Harry Arter signs

Didn’t see this one coming off, Harry Arter has signed on a permanent deal. I’ve doubted some of our signings recently, but this one could be the best yet. Sabri may well have bought himself some time.

If you bring in a new manager you can expect a whole bunch of new players will follow. This is why Sabri must stay. Over the next three windows we should off load twenty players easy.

And if he doesn’t?

Is this a failure of him - I mean, it is ridiculous the amount of players we have at the club

if he doesnt then his replacement will be bringing in players faster than we can get rid of the ones brought in by Warbs and Aitor.

The number of players at the club is not down to Sabri or any particular manager it is down to the owner/board not sticking with a manager.

All managers fail eventually.

Sabri is saying the latest signing is the final piece of the jigsaw!

Not sure I am convinced......

Sabri says he still wants a winger to complete the ‘final piece of the jigsaw’. Surely we could have managed without or prioritised a winger over at least one of the defenders we have signed. With this number of new players Sabri is going to want until at least Christmas to get a settled established side, but assuming he is still at the CG, he will have no excuses as all positions can be filled by players he wanted, barring injuries of course. He has definitely bought himself some ‘wiggle room’, quite clever really.

Sabri is the coach so recruitment comes under the umbrella of DoF, as must moving out senior players without a squad number,
It's starting to look like Marinakis has learnt something from Leeds & Norwich; now looking like a two year project realistically as most/all of the Cash, cash has been spent! couldn't resist sorry.....

Red somebody had to get that one in, but I actually agree with your thoughts. To sack him now would be madness, I seriously hope his plan works, Sabri’s that is, because if it doesn’t we are in real trouble. Sabri has got to throw off some of the defensive shackles, our sitting back and conceding 70% possession won’t be accepted. He has got to find a way to get Grabban more involved and less isolated. I don’t think Friday will bring wholesale changes, but by El Cloughico we are likely to see a very different starting line up. Sabri’s problem will be if we haven’t started performing by the end of October the pressure will definitely be on. Marinakis has been more than patient, but his patience won’t last forever.

We HAVE to be more attacking, rather than conceding possession and hoping to hit teams on the break - teams have figured us out, and it no longer works, it hasn’t got the last 20 games

Sabri with the players he now has, surely must be more attacking minded...ESPECIALLY at home

I really hope over the next 3 or 4 games we’ll start to see a bit more consistency, not just in our play, but in the team selection too

I’m really looking forward to the game on Friday evening. I think the coach’s team selection and tactics will be defining, one way or another 🤔

Just read an interesting tactical analysis of the Cardiff game by Forestboffin.

I was under the impression that switching to two strikers in the second half turned the game. (I bet you were too) But no.
In the first half Ameobi and Lolley were too high leaving space in front of our FBs which Cardiff exploited. In the second half they dropped deeper alongside Colback and Yates to deny Cardiff this space. Forest won the midfield battle and our MF (especially Yates) were able to drive forward into the attacking third.

A good compromise formation for me would be 4-4-1-1 with Freeman playing behind the striker.
