Has anybody wondered what the mindset

is of players, when they hear rumours of players coming into a club, players that play in their position, and mean almost certainly they will be replaced from the off.

For example, in the case of Doherty with Aurier, Reguilon with Davies and Bale with Moura. Do players get peeved off, thinking that behind their back the manager thinks they are not good enough and need replacing, even though they have been playing regular. What does it do for their confidence?

I am always interested in what incumbent players think. Do they double their effort, or think I am going to get dropped, so will not be busting a gut.

Take Aaron Lennon for example. We brought the "next Beckham" in Bentley for £17m and he upped his game.

Rose did the same when we brought Davies.

Depends on the individuals mindset and their will to succeed or not.

pretty sure they expect it and accept it as part and parcel of being a footballer? Most deal with it professionally and get on with their career be that fighting for their place back or moving on.

There is ofcourse the odd ones who just go off track and spiral out of control but then again you have to question was their heart really ever in it in the first place if you end up like Ravel Morrison or Michael Johnson for example. But in the main players usually stay professional and fight for their place or accept their role as backup or move on.

Given the players performance last season under both Poch and Jose.... i couldn't care less what they think.... time to shape up or ship out. As Jose is proving with Dele... there's no more being on easy street.... long may it continue.... If Jose can't bring about a change in the players attitude and the general stigma associated with the club then i'm all for it. The fact he's bringing in long overdue better players in key positions is another positive.... If he can somehow get rid of wasters like Sissoko and Lamela while he's at it, then that's a bonus

I remember that interview, was a good one to be fair.

He said football was his job not his life, whilst on the pitch he would give his all a he wa a professional, but wouldn't let it affect his home life... Or words to that effect.

Absolutely Benny while he was with us.

Arry saying he didn't know who we were playing on the weekend

He had a wicked left foot though. I remember him sending Bale down the line perfectly like every time. Definitely a good caant.

I used to like Benny a lot. A very laid back fella, that prioritised other things over football. But always gave his all on the pitch, as it was his job.
