Well, it's a good job that most of these players aren't anywhere near the first team. Not disappointed to be out of the cup as we were never going to be able to compete on four fronts but the performance was fairly awful.

Ward - what a waste of money he's been. There are better No. 2 goalies out there for a fraction of the cost. The second goal was embarrassing.

Amartey - played OK but nowhere near good enough anymore. The injury was a shame but I doubt that he would have ever held a position down even without it.

Fuchs and Albrighton - both legends but both, sadly, past it now.

Choudhury - jury is out. Has he improved over the past 12-18 months? Debatable. Mendy is comfortably ahead of him as our second choice CDM right now.

Iheanacho - far too unreliable to lead the line. As a support striker he looks decent but he's no Vardy. It's a huge failure of our management and transfer policy that we still don't have a solid, reliable back up option for a 33 year old.

Gray - oh dear. An almost perfect example of his entire career here. Promises so much, delivers so little. Possibly the most frustrating player to play for us. Almost certainly the last time we'll see him in a City shirt - a real shame that he has never fulfilled his potential.

At least KDH and Thomas played quite well.

Have to agree with that add in perez waste of £30 million in his current position?

Mendy I've always liked
But dont think his good enough in a 4141 roll

But in a 2 man mid he's then as good as ndidi or kante are on the own if you follow

Ndidi out for 6-12 weeks - confirmed on RL. Gulp.

Yeah I am still unsure on Perez. He's looked his best when he's been in the No. 10 role but he's never going to get in ahead of Maddison or even Praet. At RW and CF I am not convinced he's anything other than a semi-useful squad player.

I'm in a small minority but I love Papy. He's not as good as Kante or Ndidi but he works so hard, does the simple things well and is a really good option with Tielemans and Praet in a midfield 3.

If Ndidi is indeed out for a prolonged period of time, that makes central midfield decisions quite difficult. Mendy is tidy but limited, although thankfully Tielemans and Praet look fitter than last season. It’s difficult to see where Maddison fits into it all right now, because I think Mendy needs to be surrounded by athletes in order to be effective.

Choudhury, with great regret, I don’t think is good enough. It’s one thing having to learn his craft at defensive midfield, but he shows no real sign of having the positional awareness and discipline needed for the role. In fact, the times last season where he looked like he was focussing hard on his positioning, the rest of his game fell off a cliff.

Leicester City have been hit by a hugely damaging injury blow with key midfielder Wilfred Ndidi potentially out until Christmas.

After the Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday night, City boss Brendan Rodgers revealed that Ndidi is being assessed and may require surgery on his groin.

If that is the case, he will be out for 12 weeks, ensuring he misses nearly all of the first half of the campaign.

“We’re just waiting to hear more on that but it could be anything between six and 12 weeks,” Rodgers said of his midfield destroyer.
mercury,,,
“It’s a groin abductor which may have come off the bone, which is quite a nasty one. We’re waiting to see if he needs an operation or not. If he does, it will be at least 12 weeks.”

So now we need a centre back and a midfielder. The Fofana saga is rumbling on and by all accounts Puel will not allow St Etienne to sell to us, may come a point where we have to move on.

2 loans maybe?
