What’s interesting to note: can anyone remember the Steve Cotterill tenure (2012) - that was 8 years ago....EIGHT!!!!

Since the GREATEST of them all, Brian Clough left in 1993, we’ve had more Managers in charge of our team in the past 8 years, than we had in the previous 104 years

Maybe it’s not just the manager’s at fault here - but those who recruit them in the first place

Bristol City won 2-0 against the wendies, so he will be gone after the next game.
The next manager won't be able to complain about the squad, he will be able to select three different teams!

My brother in law is a Bristol City season ticket holder - he says they’re on fire at the moment, and Paterson is scoring for fun too

Baring in mind I think we play better away than we do at home - I cant see anything less than an away win this weekend

I also think it will be Sabri’s last game

I really hope I’m wrong

City have Weimann, Patterson & Martin playing for them.
Both Weimann & Patterson are playing well and scoring/providing assists!
They have conceded one goal against Coventry.

Will forever recall Jimmy Greaves insisting back in the 80s when Forest were consistently amongst the top teams in the country that once the great one retired they would tumble back into lower division, provincial club obscurity. Put it down to gin-induced prescience, but the man was bang on. Rev's list says it all. From Irving Scholar onwards, Forest have been incredibly consistent in bringing in middling managers that inevitably join Ron Atkinson graveside in post-Forest success. Only decent manager the club has had in that entire period was Billy Davies - just a shame about the psychopathy. Appalling that Leicester, Swansea, Southampton, Norwich and Wolves have all progressed from League 1 to the Premier League in the past 10+ years, while Forest have done nothing but flounder and move from crisis to crisis. Unless Molotov Marinakas is only looking for a player laundromat for Olympiakos, it's time after 27 years to bring in a tested manager with a recent record of success. Either way, entirely my fault in the end for not sticking with Man Utd when I was 6.

Was Davies the only decent manager? Or were there some who were not given enough time to prove the ability one way or another. Over the last twenty years I think most of the managers went prematurely.

O'Driscoll, Warburton, Karanka, are three who had success at other clubs, but who I think were not given enough time here. Maybe McLaren is also in that category. McLeish, and Atkinson had also had success but were I think past their sell by dates when they came to the City Ground.

Also in that time I don't think Marinakis or al Hasawi ever brought in a manager who they thought would fail.

Is that just the sort of challenge we like?

They will come out the traps like Mick the Miller (google him), and the Red Dogs will be waiting.

It will be our first three points of the season guys. Get your £10 iFollow pass now. You can thank me later.

We have bid £1.1million for Emil Bohinen; son of Lars.

His dad would walk into this Forest team, even though he is now 51 years old.

Maybe we’re trying to replicate the 93/94 season - I remember that season, in October we were 4th from bottom, then went to WBA away, beat them with 0-2 with goals from Stanley - we never looked back after that, stormed the League and finished 2nd - Lars, was our playmaker Midfield

Oh for a repeat of that season

Good point. While the jury arguably remains out for Warburton and Karanka, had forgotten to take into account the glorious run of post-Forest managerial success by the rest on the list. Think I heard that Montanier, Cotterill and McClaren subsequently formed an unstoppable managerial triumvirate and are currently ripping it up across the leagues of the South Pacific. Shame again on Davies - absent the megalomania and being his own worst enemy, could have comfortably spent the last decade recycling himself through the lower half of the PL as the Scottish Steve Bruce.

Does Martin O'Neill not fall into the 'success at other clubs category'?

2 Promotions with Wycombe
1 promotion, 2 League Cups and 3 top ten PL finishes with Leicester
3 SPLs, 3 Scottish Cups, 1 Scottish League Cup and UEFA Cup runner up with Celtic
3 Top six PL finishes with Villa

With my club, Leicester, I look at individual managers and the success they've brought: MON, Pearson and Ranieri - who have all had mixed success at other clubs.

By far and away the biggest single factor in our rise from League One to what we've achieved in recent years is the ownership of the club. It is also very professionally run. It's just the luck of the draw that Leicester were taken over by the Srivaddhanaprabha family and Forest got Fawaz Al Hasawi

Good point Joby, and thanks for visiting our board.

Success begins and ends with the owner(s) these days. From the top to the bottom everyone has roles and responsibilites. If they are all good in their role - happiness. But if someone in the structure is not executing their role correctly the club will ultimately fail. And if that someone is the owner as it often has been at many clubs over the last 20 years or so it will be disastrous.

For us al Hasawi proved to be a disaster. So far Marinakis has been a big improvement and big steps have been made mostly in the running of the club off the pitch.

I believe we need to stick with the current manager while the squad size is reduced and see where we stand next year/season.
