The Positives

We played well and created lots of chances.

Doherty and Hojberg had good games and are now settling in.

Ndombele showed his class when he came on.

Bale and Reguilon to come into the team soon.

The team and performances are taking shape and give us hope for the season ahead.

Now for the negatives:

5 points behind the leaders, and that's just Leicester and Everton, we're not even talking about the big teams.

Take one of our top players out, as we saw today with Son, and we look half as good up front.

Son injured and out for a while apparently, and with no Bale, we'll be pinning our hopes on Kane.

Still no second striker and unlikely to get one in time to play any of the next 3 games which includes Chelsea in the League Cup and Man United away in the PL.

The new handball rule.

I thnk we will have to just take it one game at a time now. I was all for putting out a weakened team Tuesday, but I would go strong now, and try to beat Chelsea, and let Thursdays game take care of itself. With all these VAR rules going against the club at the moment though, it will be like playing against 13 men. You just know VAR is going to screw Spurs against Chelsea.

It's crucial we get these new signings done now, as this poor start has re-emphasised it as well as the Son injury. No doubt we'll be waiting until the last day of the season when more points will have already been dropped.

Leicester just got 3 penalties

Oliverpool could not wait to give them to be fair, anything to put a dent in Pool`s main rivals.

I would agree with this. Probably the best 90 mins we have played under Jose.

Correction first 45 minutes yes 2nd half a typical negative approach to protect a one goal lead

New signings were brilliant

No negatives other than not taking chances but tbh the keeper had a blinder(standard) and the post and crossbar hits from Son were not clear cut opportunities.

Over the season we'll have a fair few ganes where we are the fortunate ones.
Newcastle do get their fair share of fortune at our place dont they, frustrating.

I look forward to the next game.

This isn't a moan at Jose but he needs to manage this squad wisely and not be petty with his little games (over playing Kane because we need a striker)
Moans about having too many players but there's quality outside of the first team and he needs to keep them sweet and give them much needed game time with all the games this season.

Winks was good today bar that one mistake late in second half.

Harry Winks completed all but four of the 94 passes he attempted against Newcastle (95.7% accuracy).

Winks did not have a bad game but he is just not good enough for where we want to go. That applies to a lot of the other players as well mind.

I think he’s fine as a squad player with the the odd big game starts.

Ideally we’d play Gio & Ndombele just in front of Højbjerg.

You have to ask how many of those 41 forward passes actually hurt Newcastle.

Best performance we've seen in ages so can't complain

Trying to find some positives. We get to see more of Stevie B start with Son out. Missed the last 20 mins but heard Ndombele had a nice little cameo on the radio.

Thought Winks played much better today. Hopefully todays result will make us hungry for Chelsea and Dele starts(and hopefully bangs one or two in).
