To give the actual quote, “we don't have the players to attack the box that we need"
- Pep Guardiola 27/09/2020
Dafuq is this guy on?
He’s been there long enough, has he not been able to coach any?
He’s spent enough, has he not been able to buy them?
Chequebook through and through. Fraudiola.
“we don't have the players to attack.."

Given his standing, and relationship with the top brass, he’ll have a lot more say than other coaches working with directors of football. I don’t think he should be absolved of blame for the poor recruitment City have made in defence since he’s been at the club.

Exactly my point. It’s unfair to hold him to blame 100%, but it’s also unfair to say he’s no blame in the poor recruitment at all.

He’s saying the attackers they needed aren’t available. Which is true.

This but I don't expect the OP to understand simple things as injuries.

Which is odd because only a couple of posts up on the Liverpool board is an article about their injury problems...

And if people focused on Begiristain in the main and then Guardiola, then I wouldn’t pull them up on it.
Right now, I imagine Guardiola himself will be being just as critical of our transfers internally as the fans are.

Tbf I think you’re too hung up on the semantics of it. Pep’s spent x amount on defenders is easily understood to be City spending it during his tenure as coach. Obviously that’s not always the case. But when discussing management you just rarely see the directors of football named when the discussion is over the period that a manager is there.

And if we were on a Sun or Talksport forum, I’d let it go

During his tenure as coach he hasn’t been able to tell the board about a striker to buy, or have the wherewithal to coach one good enough to fill in.
Fraudiola through and through.
Spent 400m+ on defenders though

You mean currently surely rather than during his tenure? It would be a bit of a stretch to say during his tenure given during his tenure we broke both the points and goal record and Jesus, bought during his tenure, scored the goal that got us that points record...
