Football and Lockdown

Up here in the N East we have entered a period of extensive lockdown for personal contact under any circumstances with different households within a house. Are we moving towards another period of football suspension? Are football clubs prepared for some restrictions even though games are played behind closed doors (to some extent)
Football clubs in lower leagues are under serious financial threat of administration and whatever that might bring to the football structure.
Lets hope these latest steps prevent any of the problems of the last lockdown.

Rugby league still going, but I’m fearful ... lads at all ages can train as a full group now but only ten mins of contact within the session!

No further restrictions have applied to the game since “the new rules”

We’re just waiting and holding our breathe, the pro game is going on obviously but there has been games cancelled due to the virus, and grassroots games are pushed back until 13th October, for now

Am I alone in thinking that the football structure as it is now has been unsustainable for some time. Bury was the tip of a very big iceberg and all Covid has done in the football world is hasten the inevitable.
The EFL needs to start planning for a post Covid world much slimmed down.
I went for a cycle the other day and cycled through a local town, in their high street over half the shops were boarded up. Nobody is expecting government to bail those businesses out, why should football clubs be any different.

Top flight clubs and a few champo ones as well should be allowed to buy into lower league teams and use them as feeder clubs where they can give games to reserves and so on.

Stay safe Penshaw.

It beggars belief that the megabucks capitalist feeding frenzy that is the football industry in the UK should be lobbying for bailouts. The PL must of course be compelled to bail out the lower leagues to the greatest degree possible before any public money is released. That they haven't already done so is a gross dereliction of duty, not to mention abysmal long term management.

The pandemic presents a wonderful opportunity to continue with the privatisation of public assets-socialisation of private debt scam that's been running for so long in the UK but particularly since 2008.

Question: could the PL continue to function without the FL over the long term?

I'm clueless as to what to do myself but there's no chance of avoiding the worst with jokers like Johnson running the show.

I fear everything will shut down again.

My gym re opened and put measures in place, 15 at a time, you have to book with an app, clean all equipment with the sprays provided, no mixing with anyone else from a different household. It was great for a month, I actually thought it was a much better experience than it's ever been, but now I go and there is 5+ kids all stood around one weight bench, seeing how much they can all bench press, they clean nothing and the gym staff don't really do anything about it.

I spoke to one of them last night and said it will ruin it for everyone else when they have to close again, unless they clamp down.

This is just one place, I can honestly see everything closing down again and can see footy been stopped again too.

Last couple of months have given false sense of alls fine again.

It’s not and will be much more severe next time things shut down as many business are nowhere near recovered from first shut down.

I don’t see how football survivors in its current form and with the obscene wages and transfer fees that have still continued this summer, they do not deserve a bailout.

Once you bailout one industry every other industry has valid claim.

Why restaurants why not wedding planners? Etc etc

Impossible for gov to get everything right but first thing is start getting people to stick to the rules and secondly, look and situations that allow people to exploit the rules.

Some interest comments on the way things are looking. The Premier League has delayed any support package for EFL and are discussing how to conclude a season if it is curtailed. It seems 66% of the season would need to be concluded before season is declared OK.
What about the upcoming International games next week and then the Champions and Europa leagues a bit later. I see one almighty mess coming up.
