Coco

I see a lot of people advocating getting rid earlier in the summer, but that’s what Lamela gives you. He didn’t stop from start to finish. Is he the best footballer in the team? Definitely not, but what you get from Eric is passion, drive and fight. He’s technically still a very good player, but his heart and desire is what really propels him higher than any of our squad players. He’s the last person I would want to sell in terms of squad players. He comes in and does a job, you can rely on him and he gives everything for this club. Always had a soft spot for Lamela and thankfully Jose likes him to. Good performance Eric.

We shouldnt be selling Lamela or Dele, they both contribute in a positive way when they play, we need a big squad and have others areas that need improving upon before weakening the squad further.

If we should be upgrading anyone, its Sissoko, the bloke has a first touch of a rapist and has gone back to his old self when he first arrived.

yes of course Don. But how often other than the start of the season is he even available due to injury?

also if we want to get to the 'next level' we need to improve on these kind of players and keep refreshing the squad. Hes 29 next year and been here 8 years.

We improve and go to the next level by getting rid of players that ain’t up for the fight, e.g Dele Ali. Lamela isn’t a 1st 11 player, but as a squad player he is extremely useful. His injury record is poor I agree, but I would still keep him

Battling Erik Lamela

If there was one player who epitomised Tottenham's performance it was Erik Lamela.

The Tottenham head coach loves the 28-year-old because he does everything a Mourinho player should - hassle, harries, bites into tackles, is tactically disciplined and constantly troubles the opposition.

Most of all he's a bit of a git on the pitch, which the Portuguese is always a big fan of.

Lamela's unfortunate injury problems have always meant that the tolerance levels for his performances from the fans are low.

His propensity of keeping hold of the ball just too long at times also frustrates but there's little doubt that you get everything the Argentine has to give every time he's on the pitch.

On Tuesday night, he carved out Tottenham's best chance of the first half with a turn and shot that was saved and then he was there late on to fire home the all-important equaliser.

He did it all with a boot problem as well, wearing different coloured ones on either foot.

"I have a problem in my right foot and they are making a new boot for me, Adidas," Lamela said after the game.

"The new boots should arrive tomorrow, so at the moment I am having to play like this."

Mourinho only had one word to describe Lamela after the game.

"Amazing. Coco amazing. I can not play him Thursday but amazing performance," the Spurs boss told football.london. "You speak about Coco and I understand why."

Lamela loves Tottenham Hotspur. He knows the club have been patient with him through some tough years, not least that 13-month injury absence with hip problems, during which he feared he would have to give up the game he adores.

Every time he goes on the pitch you can see he's making up for lost time and ensuring he gives everything because he's been shown how everything can be taken away from him.

With the prospect of the Bale, Kane and Son attacking trident to come, Lamela is not going to be a regular starter but he's the kind of squad player that successful teams are made up of.

While others might waver in their motivation or commitment, Mourinho knows he can turn to Lamela at any point and he will give everything, even during the periods when his body told him otherwise.

During the last festive period the Argentine was volunteering himself for any substitute appearances he could to help out Mourinho, who was dealing with injuries galore.

Lamela was turning out for the team on matchdays despite having not been able to train during the week, while others were making themselves unavailable, and Mourinho did not forget that.

Now as injury free as he can be, on night like this Lamela proved that he's still got a big part to play for the head coach and Tottenham.

I'm sorry but I just don't rate him. I mean he's ok as a squad player for the odd games but if we had to rely on him for a run of games due to injury I'd be worried. He doesn't possess much quality and will never improve more than being someone who will run around a lot on the pitch and commit fouls.

He won’t even be making the bench soon.

Lucas, Son, Bergwijn, Bale will be our main men.

Like him though always have but after 7 years of promise only to be let down he should be one we are getting rid off.
