Guardiola record as City manager

2/4 League titles (going to be 2/5 since Liverpool are going to easily win it again)
0/4 CL titles
3/4 League Cups
1/4 FA Cup

Really isn't that impressive . City must have hoped for more when they appointed him.

Well I don’t agree, because the success he’s achieved has been unprecedented at the clubs he’s coached. And failure to achieve levels beyond that doesn’t necessarily equal failure, but if it does he’s failed less frequently than anyone else.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The success he achieved at Bayern has been equalled and bettered immediately before and not long after he left, for one thing. Barca won another treble without him there and City won league titles and league cups under multiple managers before him. He's a very good manager and intelligent enough to keep landing the best jobs, but he's not a great in my eyes.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ultimately it’s a results business so you’re right. His Bayern team were better by than what went before or after it though, whether they won the CL or not doesn’t change that, nor is it solely down to just to the coach.

In terms of now, we’re three games into the season. One fit proper striker and we’d have been out of sight in both games we’ve dropped points in so I’m really not fussed yet. I do think he’s coming to the end of his cycle with us though and it’ll be a long time before I see a coach as good as him managing us again.

With a club that has City’s resources, I beg to differ.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
it's not always money that decides the cl. it should help in the long run but four years really isn't that long.

But I’m not talking about winning the CL, I’m talking about their record.

I agree with you - it’s a tough competition to win that does require some luck, but they have performed really quite badly considering the clubs position.

Sacchi inherited a lot of the core of his team. Milan had finished closer in points to the champions when he took over than Barca did when Pep did. He obviously revolutionised the team - as Pep has done at all the clubs he’s been at with regard to how they play, I wouldn’t call him a fine tuner - but had repeated failures even with that team, only winning one league title (Capello replaced him and won 4 in 5 years, including 3’on the spin) and didn’t do anything in his career after leaving the Italian national team after a group stage exit in Euro 96.

Sacchi’s legacy is built upon the four years of success he had at Milan and his huge influence on tactics. Pep’s had a far more successful career as a coach.

Pep won more league titles than Liverpool have since it became the premierleague.

You haven't been on here for a long time Hafi.

Have you been in prison?

Pep:-

2/4 League titles
0/4 CL titles
3/4 League Cups
1/4 FA Cup

Jurgen:-

1/4 League titles
1/4 CL titles
0/4 League Cups
0/4 FA Cup

That's a better comparison.

Pep has done great but now it seems Man City are in the worst shape since he took charge. The fear factor is gone.

No I haven’t been in prison Boris. Are you concerned how poor Man City look? Could be both Manchester clubs out the top 4 this season with both sides poor perfromances.

Ask me that when we've both played 30 games rather than 3.
