The Wisdom of Crowds

Ok, collectively let's try to win some money.

According to the interesting theory of cognitive diversity (Matthew Syed's 'Rebel Ideas') we can harness our unique perspectives, pool our collective intelligences and vastly improve our decision making.

Rangers and Celtic are both playing today and there is an opportunity to test this theory in a totally unscientific way by seeing if, collectively, we can agree on what we think the scores might be in each game and then, if you are so minded, put a bet on that collective predicted outcome.

Stupid rash comments like 'our team will win 5-0 and they'll get humped' will quite rightly be rejected by any gambler as stupid wishful thinking and will not attract a lot of support.

So, let's try it out, share your score predictions, tell the rest of us why you picked those scores and let's get some informed rather than partisan debate going.

As a start, I think both teams will win, based on their recent track records and considering their opposition. I want to think a bit more about actual scores, but if there is any interest in this I'll post my score predictions later.

I'm thinking that Celtic might go on the rampage to better their goal difference so I'll go 4-0 to Celtic. Rangers are playing a stuffier team away and they might just concede. So I'll go 1-3.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This perfectly illustrates why collective and diverse decision making, especially in my case, is proportionally likely to be better than individual decision making. What a fud I 🤣🤣🤣🤣

OK in light of that constructive input from Zico my revised forecast is Rangers to win 5-0 and 0-4 for Celtic.

Skull, I've just bet my prediction @ 170/1. 🤣

As I only ever bet a few pounds I'm willing to bet yours and if it comes up I'll give 10% to a charity of your choice. 👍
