Ok a Villa article instead

Just how good were they, Liverpool were abysmal yes, 1-11 to a man Villa were just superb, a bit of luck with deflections but Barkley could have scored 1 maybe 2 early on

A fully deserved victory and let’s be honest it could have been more

I was dubious when he was signing Cash and Watkins as starters from the championship tbf but they have all proved me wrong

Don't need to look abroad and spend £40million on ndnobody players. You have done what Everton have done, look at your weaknesses and address them with players rather than names
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have bought two foreigners who improved you.

It is well and good doing it in one game but the top teams putting performances 90% of all games in the season.

Dunno what this actually means, but you are one of only 2 teams with 100% record in the league and have looked comforfable in all the games you've played.

Looked to me that Villa had done their homework, worked for each other and were physically really well prepared and worked hard. I don't think 7-2 was a reflection of play but Villa absolutely deserved the win.

I think our set up and approach was a bit arrogant tbh and we got a slap. Don't often see VVD megged either. I hope he said 'megs' on the way past too. Hopefully it will do us some good somehow. There was a period towards the end that Grealish was doing what he wanted.

One thing I did notice is that pretty much every Villa player looks like they're on coke. Prove me wrong.

Yes every Villa player looked like they’re on coke

I'm reasonably drunk. Like I've literally never seen that kind of defeat in my life for us.

They do look like a right set of lads lads lads to me though. Barkley, Grealish, Cash and Ming's probably on it right now. It's a throw away comment though.

Saying that I'll predict right now Villa reach relative safety pretty quickly and then tail off.

Well tonight though. Really good to watch and no little quality.

I would doubt they are on coke tbf lol

I predicted 14th at the start but seeing every other team 10th wouldn’t be out of reach

If you reach a cup final and they wear white suits we'll know.

Watching you today I think you'll have a decent big game record and be good to watch. Get Grealish and Barkley showing the form they did today that'll be wins and McGinn was tidy as always. Keeper looks solid.

I can't believe it really. I loved football so much at 6.30pm.

Last season we looked unbalanced, with weaknesses in certain positions. This season the balance looks great, although injuries might change that. We've bought well; add the new players to the better existing players who have the experience of last season under their belt, and we look like a good PL side. This season is going to be interesting.

Nice to see Everton and Villa back at the top of the table, two clubs with history.

Say all you want about Liverpool's high line, missing Mane and Allisson, etc etc. We basically scored 7 against the current champions of England and some have said one of the greatest sides in PL history. And what's more we could have had at least 10 - Barkley missed 3 great chances, Watkins missed a 1 v 1 and also hit the bar, Traore was in on goal at the end too. It was quite simply a great performance from us whichever way you look at it

It remains to be seen whether this is the catalyst for a great season for Villa or not but it will certainly live long in the memory. Just a shame the fans couldn't be there to witness it.

Regardless of where we finish I think we'll be comfortably safe. There were a few lazy and ill informed people who predicted us to go down at the start of the season but seemed to base this only on the fact that we just survived last season. We did, but for much of the season had a porous defence that was considerably improved after Project Restart. And with owners who want to push the club on it was likely if we signed the required firepower that we would improve a lot more this season. So far at least, all the signings look to have done that. On paper we have a side that could feasibly finish at least midtable but it is a long season of course.
