It is funny after conceding 11 goals in 3 games (should have been 20 probably) and some people are quibbling over whether the best defender we have isn’t good enough to pass the ball out of defence.

Well, yes, when you look at it like that. But as Simon Stone just said on the BBC: "If you look at what happened against Tottenham, you would think they need quite a few defenders, but United think that the defensive record they had last season proves they have got good players at the club already."

It's been a freakish start to the season with a few factors at play other than each defenders' individual ability. Maguire, Shaw and Wan-Bissaka are definitely better than what they've shown this season.

is simon stone generally considered to be a club mouthpiece? just seen him going on about how this signing fits the "cultural reboot" at the club and then talking about ronaldo and how this guy is also being signed as a youngster. no pressure there then.

on the plus side someone ought to be able to make up a song based on "rock me amadeus"

figures, what he was saying sounded like it was written by neil ashton.

anyway, won't even pretend to know anything about this guy, may watch a youtube video or two, though need to avoid the danger of judging a player as world class based on his youth team performances (aka hachim mastour syndrome)

Last season Atalanta loaned a young winger to Parma called Kulusevski, he lit up the league and Juve signed him for big money in January and he stayed there until this summer. Apparently this lad was going on loan to replace him, and is viewed as a similar level talent, and we wanted to bring him in before his price went up after he shone on loan.
