Squad depth

Is the lack of squad depth potentially concerning to anybody else? 3 natural CB's, Matip is rarely every fit and Gomez is now beginning to come under some scrutiny (as is Van Djik) after Sunday's defeat and some mediocre performances of late as well. Having to move Fab to CB is surely a potential concern for the rest of the season, surely there must be some investment in January?

Also is it worth keeping hold of Grujic beyond the end of the season? With the likelihood of Wijnaldum leaving, Milner coming to the end of his career and Ox being on the fringes, would Grujic and Jones make the squad for next season?

Strange, it seems to have gone from having a lack of depth up front, to a lack of depth in defence now (including quality depth in goal as well).

The only concern for me is the lack of a backup keeper. Adrian is useless.

The defense can be improved in training and getting Hendo back helps. I don't think Klopp will trust Keita on the right side of midfield.

An injury to VVD keeping him out for a month or more, will really show how good or bad your squad strength is.

Its clear how bad it is. A month injury for Van Djik would result in Gomez and Matip being the only natural CB's, the latter can never keep fit and Gomez's errors are starting to show. Fabinho at CB would be a good stop gap, other than that it's resorting to youngsters such as Phillips and I'm not sure how he would cope at this level.

I'm sorry but i don't get the issue here.

We have ONE gap, that we don't have a 4th choice CB?

Or that we released a player klopp doesn't really fancy to go to a fantastic opportunity for himself at porto?

In case people didn't get the memo here:

Depth is not the same thing as quality. We've plenty of warm bodies to throw at the team.

the old adage comes to mind "some people are never satisfied"

Matip is hardly ever fit at the moment, certainly not over the last 12 months anyway. Gomez's poor ability is beginning to show. So when we begin to look at depth AND quality, it seems very thin on the ground. The 4th choice CB wants to be Matip, 3rd choice Gomez and a new starting CB imo.

I mean does Klopp see Grujic as part of his long-term plans because the theory was he was meant to be sold to some clubs in Germany this summer, but a loan move to Porto was deemed suitable, so is it a case of sell him on next season?

Wijnaldum seems as if he could go to Barca next summer and the club can't be relying on Milner forever to be back up as well as the unreliable Ox. And if Fabinho ends up being the cover CB, the midfield suddenly only becomes Henderson, Keita, Thiago, Jones with an ageing Milner and unreliable Ox. So the strength in depth might not be there in midfield either.

Centre back is the only slight issue. I appreciate we have just had an absolute shocker of a result but it doesnt change the fact we still have 1 of the best squads around.

The GK issue is the massive one, more so than CB imo.

Adrian and Kelliher should not be options at our level.

Need a keeper as a priority and ideally another CB

We have the world's best goalkeeper imo so when scouting for a second keeper it's a case of 'Well we'd like you to sign for us but you'll never progress to the 1st team unless Alisson is injured.'

Most decent keepers won't accept that so it has to be a young un' still learning, an old one happy to take a last pay day or a dodgy one like Adrian.
