More Ed incompetence

IF this is true, it explains why Beeks may not be in favour with Ole

https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4202838/man-united-missed-all-of-solskjaers-targets-including-sanchogrealish-sources

Ole wanted Sancho, Grealish, Ake and Upemecano. Not necessarily the ones he ended up getting.

Cheers Ed 🙄

Those who want to keep Ole at all cost are behind these rumours. I don’t believe them. I think that the board simply don’t trust Ole’s judgement anymore.

haven't read all the comments, but 2 quick points:

1) i wouldn't judge sancho too much on his early england form, if we did then we'd think that welbeck (16 goals in 42 appearances) and andros townsend (3 in 13) were better players than rashford (3 in his first 25 matches, then 7 in 13) or sterling (2 in his first 45, before 11 in his next 13). young players do not always instantly take to international football;

2) i've heard this story about ole's targets, but why do we assume they were his personal choices? do we think ole personally scouted bruno? remember ed boasting about our supercomputer analysing 804 RBs before coming up with AWB? Presumably ole sets out what he wants - young, fast, good tackler, clumsy on the ball - and the scouting team get to work. And we know who suggested dan james.

Even with previous managers it isn't always clear who wanted what - jose had managed matic, apparently his personal scouts found dalot, club scouts found fred (who jose then didn't use much), and woodward is strongly rumoured to have been the driving force behind pogba and sanchez (and apparently woody has been a fan of cavani for 7 years).

so i'd really hesitate to conclude that ole personally wanted these players, i just don't think that's how it all works at united these days.

"Ole wanted Sancho, Grealish, Ake and Upemecano"

That's about £270m before wages and agents fees. I understand them not wanting to risk that sort of money in the current climate, and I bet Ole's grown up enough to understand that too
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ake £40m
Upemecano £45m
Grealish £60m

Probably realistic figures for those 3, who would have transformed our team, you can even take Ake out and that’s a much better window for us.

Ole wanted 4 players which would have cost you around 350m

Not surprised he didn't get them

The Upamecano fee seems very optimistic to me, best young CB in Europe.

Seems to me like Ole is dreaming if he thinks we can just keep going out there in a Pandemic and giving him £80m+ players

The incompetant one here seems to be Ole

Find some gems and decent backups and quit relying on the chequebook

Ole talks grand about building a team but you got to show more than just spending £££

if you want to win the big prizes spending is always necessary/

If there is any truth in this at all, surely it wasn't a case of Solskjaer wanting all four. It might have been more like:

Sancho OR Grealish
AND
Ake OR Upamecano

So a CB and someone to add to the attacking numbers who's capable of playing wide. Sancho, Grealish and Upamecano are players many on here wanted and had we got just Upamecano and, say, Grealish, it would have been a better window than the one we've had in terms of actually improving the first XI. I agree that if Sancho and Grealish were Solskjaer's only options, he probably needed to be more realistic moneywise. Might be nonsense though, of course.

Those who want Ole out at all costs will believe every rumour that is against him, or twist it so it is
