Among other factors, our downturn in form under the Poch era coincided with letting Dembele go. I always thought that finding a replacement was pretty much impossible.
However, this season has seen a turn in fortune for Ndombele, who, over the summer was heavily linked with a move away. He is now, for me, one of the most important players in the team.
If he stays fit and happy at Spurs (I saw him smile at least twice against United) then he could be the driving force for years to come.

MourOUTho
I will admit I got it completely wrong about him. Never thought he was capable of playing more than 10 minutes of football. Now he is getting up to speed with 90 minute games, it will be like a new signing. Still has a bit to do to play like multiple games in a row. But he is at least trying, and Jose seems to have sorted him out.

Yep, fair play to Jose

Actually, Dembele picked up an injury in an away win at Wolves on 3 November 2018 and never played again for the club.
Despite him being absent ever since, out form was WWLWWWWWLWLWW before the window shut and he left us for good.
So 10 wins in 13 games without him, before he left, kinda undermines the theory that Spurs decline was down to the loss of Dembele

He's so comfortable on the ball. The Dembele comparison is fair in terms of how he's able to get out of danger/make space.
With Hoijbjerg starting to look the business, a midfield 3 of PEH, GLC and Ndombele is as good as any in the league
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, PEH has definitely had an impact. I imagine Ndombele (and Jose for that matter) has far more confidence in PEH covering the space rather than Winks.
I cannot wait to see PEH, GLC and Ndombele play regularly together. With Bale, Son and Kane in front. Hopefully for the first time against West Ham.

Looking at your side with envy mate. You have a good manager and a very good side. Should batter some teams this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We already are
----------------------------------------------------------------------
😢
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You guys will be fine as soon as you get Poch.... OGS is a joke. He can go back to being a famous substitute managing in Norway where he belongs. He wont ever get another Job in the PL.... so far out of his depth it’s embarrassing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True, I think Poch will be in before the end of this year. Every single supporter of every other club can see it with Ole. Nice guy but out of his depth. He’ll always be a club legend in my eyes even if he’s sacked. Playing and managing can be compartmentalised.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The “club legend” thing is a bit of stretch...... he was a good sub... The way some of your fans go on, you’d think he was up there with Best, Law & Charlton...... Cole, Yorke, Berba, Sheringham, RVN were all miles better players
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah! Surely anyone that scores the winning goal in the last seconds of the Champions League final to clinch a treble is a club legend!

I did not say it was solely down to the loss of Dembele. In fact, I began the post with ‘among other factors’ as I anticipated some smart @rse would take issue.
If you don’t think that the loss of Dembele, and lack of suitable replacement, had an impact then you really didn’t appreciate the extent of his importance in our team.

I am happy to say I was one of the fans who wanted to give Ndombele time to adapt and another season, although I for a while I did think he might be sold.
If he can reach peak fitness and stay there, add more physicality and an increased defensive side to his game also, and we will have the best central midfielder in the PL.
His ability on the ball is exceptional, especially in tight areas, as is his range of passing. If he can become more box to box and add more goals, assists and defensive work, we will have some player on our hands.
