Charlie Taylor

Evening Leeds fans,

Bit of a random one but a work colleague of mine met your former player Charlie Taylor on a train going out of Manchester Piccadilly the other day and got chatting him.

I wasn’t aware of the way he left you but Taylor told my mate that the regrets the way he left Leeds.

He said when he made it clear he wanted to leave he was belittled by some senior staff at the club as well as a lot of the playing staff.

Also a couple of top flight clubs who were interested in signing him said they’d possibly turn their attention elsewhere if he were to get injured in the last day of the season against Wigan which played on his mind - hence refusing to play.

Just thought I’d share.

I don't blame him at all for the way he left.

If I remember correctly, he was still on the contract he signed before he established himself as a first teamer and the club didn't offer him a new contract reflecting that. The club was a joke back then.

He's a good player, I think he'd be great in this current team. Good, left footed leftbacks are hard to come across, we've not replaced him really since he left.

Agreed that he’s a good player. Solid defensively and does alright going forward. Surprised he’s not had an England call up yet.

He'd have been a great player in this team. But it was a different regime when he was at Leeds and the timing wasn't right. I wish him all the best think he's done well for himself.

Top flight clubs - Burnley

He’s found his level. Wouldn’t get in the current dressing room as a cleaner but good luck to the lad

I think this is a touch disingenuous and positively reeks of sour grapes.

He refused to play so he’s filed in the same drawer as Ryan Fraser and Lyle Taylor........a rat

Players just do what their agents tell them... clean your teeth, go to the toilet, refuse to play so you don’t get injured.

He’s meant to be a nice lad, and he’s a decent footballer. The game he missed was end of season dead rubber. He should have played but water under the bridge.

I paid around £150 for 2 tickets that day hoping for the 13-0 win we needed

I take it back kebab... not a dead rubber ...A ‘where there’s life there’s hope’ rubber

Not harsh, you're paid by the club to play. Anyone who refuses is a disgrace I don't care how bad the owner is
