Dier is a worry..

And not because of his injury...

https://www.footballfancast.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/spurs-latest-rumours-eric-dier-statistics-england-mourinho-selection-mistake-pl-gossip

‘Dier performed the worst of any England defender, notching a lowly 6.4 rating by SofaScore.

Aside from four clearances and one tackle, the Spurs star also conceded a penalty by foolishly bringing down a rampant Romelu Lukaku in a rather brainless act when he didn’t need to go to ground, whilst he even lost 75% of his duels and lost possession five times.

The Sun gave him a scathing review in their post-game ratings too, they said: “Brainless, clumsy foul on Lukaku to give away penalty after 15 minutes which gave Belgium the lead. Looked jittery from then on and Conor Coady should be disappointed if he is not given a chance in Dier’s place next time out."

Life isn’t looking any Rosier for Sanchez

https://theboyhotspur.com/colombia-beat-venezuela-30-yet-davinson-sanchez-still-didnt-have-a-good-game/

Long passing accuracy 33% Sanchez made 6 long balls, and only 2 of them went where they were supposed to.

7 times the Colombian lost possession, and 5 of those occasions were in his own half. Defensive duels? Sanchez won just 1 out of 4 attempts.

I like Dier but he gets unnecessary over the top stick from some fans and also others seem to see his ceiling as a CB a lot higher than it actually is.

Not sure I consider him a “worry” he’s a Michael Dawson type character for me, will bleed for the team.

I like Dier. He and the defence generally will benefit from PEH screening them and picking up the 2nd balls more often. Hopefully the pressure on teh defence will be eased as teams will be more fearful of our attack and not over commit against us.

I think time needs to be given to allow things to settle, defensively. Having said that, Sanchez has plateaued and i am not sure Jose really trusts him and the link to Rudiger would be more of a Sanchez replacement than Dier.

Our defense in general is a worry

So the joint third best defence in the division is a worry. And would probably be the best, but for conceeding three pens.

Honestly do our supporters get a kick out of finding fault with the team all of the time? Is there never ever anything positive to look at?

Not just supporters..we pursued Skriniar for ages and now we being linked with Rodon from the Championship..could it be that someone at Spurs management and hierarchy thinks the same?

Dier has the heart and the passion but not the ability. Same could be said of lots of England players when it comes to the top level.

Of course Spurs will always try to strengthen, like all clubs do. But it will not be the end of the world if no more players come in. Let's just celebrate the good parts of the club, just for a change. I am very, very happy with what I am seeing right now.

Spurs have conceded 1 goal from open play so far all season. We have generally, apart from opening day disaster, been very good so far all over the pitch. Main issue defensively has been defending set pieces, improving this could go a long way tbh.

onwards to West Ham...if in doubt let's just try and out score opposition. Our strength is definitely in attack
