Ole to 'rest' Maguire?

Following discussions on here yesterday about how Maguire should be dropped for tomorrow, I gave the opinion that he would likely start, as PL captains are never dropped for poor form. It is difficult for a manager to do that to his captain.

However I did start to wonder as to whether Maguire might be rested/dropped under the guise that he had picked up an 'injury'.

Sure enough, Ole has today said that Maguire picked up an injury before getting sent off and that he is a doubt. He has verbally backed Maguire to bounce back and said that he is keen to play, but mentioned that he is being monitored for his knock. So I think that there is a good chance that he won't start tomorrow, which would probably be a good move.

This game vs Newcastle has suddenly become a feckin massive game for United. I'm even tempted to spend the £15!

I must keep repeating: "Don't be part of the Sky pi55take".... "Don't be part of the Sky pi55take"

Does this mean Lindelof is no longer dropped? What about Bailly, does he have to have a few more howlers before he's dropped and didn't he suffer from fatigue for Ivory Coast?

Is Jones available?

I thought with the £15 games, the vast majoirty of the money goes to the clubs rather than Sky/BT as these are games that TV wouldn't usually be allowed to show and is a way for clubs to recieve some sort of gate receipt?

Yeah Sky are getting little or nothing from this. It's for the clubs to line their own pockets. In essence, it's so that the supporters fund any money "generously" given to clubs lower down the footballing ladder

I don't give a crap where the money goes. I donate £1000s a year to both Sky and United between them each year. And that is enough.

So the wife says, anyway.

Yet the greedy baztards now seem to want more.

If Maguire is fit he should play IMO. If he does play and makes a mistake then the 'injury' could be a convenient excuse.

If we did have another two CBs in better form then yes, leave him out, but I don't think we do so he needs to knuckle down and get out of this poor run of form sharpish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I feel the same. I’m not sure this idea that he’s mentally broken is true either. He’s obviously lacking a bit of confidence right now, and it’s not helping that the whole team is playing really badly either, but he didn’t play too badly against Belgium despite this, which seems to be ignored.

It’s also worth noting that we will need to compete in the air with Newcastle. Even if he’s in poor form he’s going to give us more in this department than our other cb’s - cb’s that are also in poor form.

Play your best 11.

Like him or not, that definitely includes Maguire.

If United fans want better, then that's understandable, but to suggest playing bailly and/or lindelof suggests they don't really want better - or just don't understand defending or football.

Of course there are better than Maguire out there, but if united want better (or as good) they'll have to buy in, because NOTHING better is currently available - unless they bring smalling back.
