Huge week for Ole

2 wins and there will be real optimism throughout the club and the majority of fans.
2 losses and the knives will be well and truly out.

A lot of space in between obviously, but the potential difference in the outlook by a week today is huge.

If Ole is going to win back the doubters, these are the sorts of weeks where he needs to deliver

Poch won the same amount of games as LVG did that season in the league.

In what could well be a strange season we don't want to be writing ourselves off in terms of winning the CL. I think we could have a punchers chance in it if things go our way. More likely to win that than the PL IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think we’re a couple of seasons away from competing for top titles.

If you look at the age profile of the squad, as a unit, they’re something like three to five years away from their prime if we can keep a core together: Martial, Rashford, Greenwood, Bruno, Beekers, Fred, McT, Shaw, Maguire, AWB, Henderson and others should all have their best years ahead (and in many cases way ahead) of them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Worse sides than ours have won the CL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Rosso just wants to make excuses for a future that probably won’t happen. By this equivalent season both Poch and Klopp challenged for major titles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they didn’t.

Neither competed for the PL before their third full season in charge (both finishing second in that term). Klopp came runner up in the CL in his second full season. That’s as close as either got in their second full seasons.

And both had sides with different age profiles and levels of experience.

I actually don’t care Robb. Your managerial patter is repetitive, boring and moot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs competed for the title in Poch’s second season. And you counted the CL as ‘titles competed for’ which Klopp did in his second full season.

You’re just making excuses once again for Moyes with money by kicking the can down the road. In terms of sides with different age profiles and experience... what did the Spurs side of 15/16 have that we didn’t? We have World Cup winners, CL finalists, Europa winners, league winners etc in our side and huge amounts of money spent. The excuses you make for Ole are amusing and another sign of what this site does to normally intelligent people (myself included) and turns certain managers into cult figures where logic and reason goes out the window.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh just fack off, Robb. You want to talk to me about affording managers cult status?

That is something I’ve only ever done on or off here with one football manager, and it’ll likely stay that way. I’ve treated every single manager we’ve had since Fergie exactly the same way.

Life is easier that way; it means you don’t have to attempt to undertake the spectacular mental gymnastics - the manipulation of statistics, the myopic focus on certain events and outcomes, the gross oversimplification of situations, the selective dismissal of context - that you‘ve engaged in one way or another since Moyes was employed. Manager A, good. Manager B, terrible. Manager C, good. Manager D, terrible. Manager E (not professionally associated with the club in any way whatsoever, but certain to be a success, if appointed), some sort of god. I don’t know why you do it, honestly; it must be very tiring.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I did include myself in that.

As for them shares I’ve backed, you’ve displayed breathtaking lack of thought there. I supported Moyes because I was naive enough to think it was the right thing to do as SAF was a legend and asked us to back him. Turns out he wasn’t good enough and by the end I was fine with it. Then LVG wad]s appointed and I had doubts about him that were very much proven true. He was waaaaaay past his best and sacked after the most boring two years at United in living memory. I wanted someone better to join and while Jose ultimately crashed and burnt, he was and is still the best manager we’ve had post-SAF.

Now this is where your basic theory falls apart. Had we appointed someone capable after Jose I would have backed them. Instead we appointed a guy that 99.9% of the football world laugh about and who you will give 4 seasons before you even expect him to challenge for titles let alone win them.

Rosso, hope that Koop aid tastes nice.

Robb did you know Man Utd won the most points at home in the the league in the 38 games LVG managed us at home. No other side manager as many points. I always find it strange a manager who made us outshoot the opposition nearly every home game is considered boring. What does that say about the opposition managers we faced then?

Actually his theory doesn't fall apart as this can't be proven. We might have appointed someone you didn't like over those you did and the theory would stand true.

If that person was what I considered good for the role then of course I would have been more supportive

The really amusing thing on here is that I get accused of this hilarious on/off/on thing but I’m far from alone. People here en masse have not supported Moyes then were huge LVg fans then hated Jose then are massive Ole fans and then don’t want us to hire Poch.

That pattern applies to most on here.
