Media spin, again

Whilst you all know my hatred for the media, this morning is a classic reason why this is the case.

The papers, the BBC and every other outlet known to man, is having the usual anti Spurs field day this morning. Reading them, you would think Spurs have ceased to exist, much less not actually lost the game.

All the low end rags ( and the wonderful BBC ) are going with maximum picture sensationalism, showing West Ham players jumping here there and every where, with, very slyly, a picture of Bale, inferring this result is down to him.

Once again, just as they do with any national team success, they pull down what should be a good thing for the PL. Why would a player of his stature not be good for the PL. The media seem to think not. I guess we will have to get used to these people picking holes at every opportunity where he is concerned.

Yes it was a bad collapse, but we were playing a team that recently beat Leicester 3-0 and Wolves 4-0. Both, according to the same media, quality teams.

Equally annoying, but typical, the Chelsea result just a day before, and an identical result, has been swept under the carpet. To me that result was worse given the spend Lampard has made this year.

The BBC have even this morning come out with a "lets vote for the most extraordinary result on the back of our game, and low and behold, the Chelsea v Southampton game is not even listed, even though identical outcome.

I appreciate football reporting is based on sensationalism, but come on, what is it that the press has specifically against Spurs, but not against other teams such as Chelsea, Liverpool, Utd and Arsenal. All of which can have bad results / performances and nobody bats an eyelid. Or if they do, it is forgotten by the next day.

What reports about Spurs are you referring to specifically, Sandy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

All of them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I posted up that the BBC said Spurs have a realistic chance of top four, so I'm afraid this isn't correct.

Checked three other news outlets and none of them said what you claim.

Before yesterday's game, a lot of the media were being very complimentary toward Spurs.

Liverpool got smashed 7-2, and it was only a blip. Spurs draw a game, and they will struggle for top six. The media have their favorites.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But losing 1 game out of 5 can been seen as a blip though, losing 1, drawing 2, and winning 2 is top 6 form to be fair.

Can’t stand these whiny biiitchy articles about how the media apparently hate us, every time we get a bad result.

We facked up and are rightly being criticised for it. Wish some of our fans would stop being so pathetic and whingey about it and just take it on the chin.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No need to get so uppity Palmers, OP makes a valid point. You don't have to agree with him, but he is entitled to his view without having to be called whingey.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m not sure I am being uppity Sandy.

Of course Steve is entitled to his opinion, just as I am entitled to call it out. Tbh though, it’s nothing more than a whinge fest really, isn’t it? None of it is supported by any hard evidence or facts, only his own opinion. If he really can’t stand the media, he should ignore it.

Personally I’m of the opinion that when Spurs are playing well we are complimented by the media, as evidenced by the praise for Kane & Son after the 6-1 win at United. When we fack up, we are criticised, which was the case yesterday. Not an issue for me.

Stop drawing 3-3 against West Ham like peasants do then. The media write about ya'll because ya'll a buncha cacs who amuse the rest of us. What a sorry state.

Meanwhile the Express and Star are reporting that Ole has a month to “save his job”.

Every fan thinks the media is after their club above all others. Says more about fans in general and what sells newspapers and generates clicks than anything else.

I might also refer you to opinion pieces on Sky Sports and in the Mail in recent days arguing that Spurs can win the league this season.

Controversial, left field and provocative headlines and opinions sell. That’s the bottom line. There’s no agenda beyond that.

Don't bring facts into it Winston

Getting smashed 7-2 is a fact.

It was yes, what's your point?
