The officials on Saturday afternoon failed to take action against a player who made a reckless and potentially career ending challenge.
In my opinion the officials have completely abdicated responsibility and unsurprisingly the authorities have backed them. the fool in charge of the VAR decision (David Coot) will have no action taken against him and referee's the Leeds vs Wolves game tonight.
Personally I don't think Pickford intentionally crippled the worlds best centre back, but surely every individual involved in the decision making process shouldn't have there sheer ineptitude swept under the carpet.
I'm an advocate of VAR, and if employed correctly it will enhance the game, but given how the VAR officials, the referee and the linesman all missed a horror tackle, which occurred seconds after the offside call, is at best gross incompetence, given that a players career now hangs in the balance. Personally, I don't believe that they didn't see it because they were concentrating on the offside decision. i think they bottled it. No one had the cajones to say wait a minute, that's not right.As I said, they abdicated responsibility,

Can we just forget about this now and move on, VVD is injured and it's shown the problem with the implementation VAR, let's hope this changes how the officials use it, that benefits all clubs.
And the notion that Liverpool have suddenly just had a decision go against them and that this is just now a problem is conspiracy theory level of delusion

Am sorry you brought up that we mainly benefit from var when I said it is a myth. There is an espn table of var decisions for 2019/20 that shows we not even in the top 5 teams who benefitted from it.

I never said you mainly benefit from VAR, I said that Liverpool had yet to be properly burned by VAR. You hadn't lost loads of points because of it and had only really seen it impact rivals in that way. So you were never bothered.
Now you have had a full negative experience with it in a local derby, you are throwing your toys out the pram.

Tamwolf its worth noting that the injury VVD got is the first instance of a player being badly injured by a tackle VAR should have seen and reviewed there and then.
And getting a positive change from this benefits all clubs, club rivalry here is ridiculous, could have been any teams player.

Not only should Jordan Pickford be suspended for as long as Van Dijk is injured, but Pickford should also be forced to have the same operation and rehab. It's the only fair thing to do.
