We have one of the best forward lines in the league. Our midfield is taking shape with Ndombele and PEH showing their class and with Lo Celso to add to the mix. Also, Sissoko is a gratfer and hard worker, he just needs to focus on wining the ball and then giving it to someone better than him in the team. However, our central defence is very weak. This means that it’s going to have to be a “we’re gonna score TWO more than you" mentality this season in order to see a game out.
Probably like most of you, I was still nervous when we were 3-0 with just 10 minutes to go. My wife thought I was crazy and that the game was in the bag. Well, she’s not a long suffering Spurs supporter like I am and my instincts knew better, when the score got to 3-2 in particular.
I am sorry, but I have zero confidence in Sanchez and Aurier. I’m on the edge of my seat whenever they’re on the ball in our half of the field and you just know that Sanchez will get bullied off the ball or Aurier is going to make a rash challenge. At least we have Doherty to replace Aurier, but the problem is central defence.
Toby is past his best (although he played well yesterday), Dier and Sanchez are just not good enough. Tanganga is a relative rookie, but he could prove to be good and I know little of Rodon to form an opinion. Jose obviously has identified this as an issue and tried hard to sign Skriniar. Unfortunately a deal could not be done and we are where we are.
Until the central defence issue is resolved, we’re just going to have to buckle up and “enjoy" the ride guys!

Sanchez has been afforded enough time at Spurs now. His 4th season and no real improvement shown. Too many mistakes, not a good reader of the game, and easily bullied. Doesn't look like being anything other than a squad player.
Sissoko is 31 and we look like we've seen the best of him, which turned out to not be that great anyway. Doesn't do the things that made him good anymore and mistake-riddled.
Aurier has just never been reliable, despite odd good performances here and there. Doesn't engage his brain enough.
Winks is too weak. Doesn't suffer from brain farts so much like the others, but is a push over in the middle of the park against good opposition and lacks creativity.
