Running

Do we have any runners on here?

I've never been a runner. Never liked it tbh. I was quite active when younger and played sports, did martial arts etc which kept me fit.

Now in my late 40's I lead a sedentary lifestyle and am putting on chub, lockdown hasn't helped so want to take it up.

I have absolutely chit stamina currently and a knee issue. Any advice on how to start and get into it?

I'm there 6am most mornings mon-fri and 8am on a Saturday as that is when it opens.

I love the early mornings, no wait for bench's/machines and I can be out of there in 45-50 mins. I always do my weight workouts early and my run later in the day typically just before dinner.

Sunday is typically my rest day as I consume a few beverages on a Saturday night

I envy you

As I say, I COULD go to the gym early but I just can't get up earlier than I do now. 8 years I've worked here and had this start time but haven't got used to my alarm going off at 6:25 still

You go for a run on your lunch break, or work from home or something?

I really wish I was a morning person, I workout in a morning at weekends but at like 11am ish, and always feel better than going to the gym in the evening.

I have to be up at 6:30 for work, to leave for 7:15ish, if I got to the gym for 6 I could shower there after and still get to work for the same time but I just can't bear getting up any earlier.

Morning gym people make me jealous as they finish work and have the whole evening to do as they please then, or relax and do nothing.

Same Mike. I can’t do pre 930 at extreme earliest.

I’m wfh at the mo so I can do lunch runs depending on the schedule

wfh and my gym is 5 mins away with good parking so I try and go twice a day during the week however is normally 3 out of 5 days I do this.
My kid finishes school at 6.45pm (military school) 3 nights a week so I normally time it around that.

I'm normally surrounded by fit ladies for my run in the late afternoon/early evening so its all good

Good working going to go for a 6.5k this morning. Not si much a fan of running when it’s colder.

When you you guys run? Favorite time for me is morning, juice and coffee and head out, sets me up well for the day, failing that lunchtime.

Yup, it actually helps! As barefoot says, chesty probably not a great idea.

Helps a lot of the time I find with a lot of stuff. Hangovers, especially
