Record breaking season for Kane?

I'm looking at the start Kane has had and I'm thinking this could turn out to be a record breaking season for him in terms of breaking the PL assist record of 20 and even the PL goal record of 32, and I have no doubt he'll have designs on doing this.

You could say I'm getting carried away after just 5 games, and if it were any other player that would be true, but this is Kane, a player who managed to outscore Messi and Ronaldo in a calendar year, so I think he is capable. It's hard to ignore the potential of doing both given how sharp he looks with his passing and knowing the players around him have improved, meaning he can assist more and receive better delivery himself. Already 7 assists in 5 games when KDB was on only 2 more assists in over 15 of his first games last season, and he matched the record.

Only real issue that I think can stop him is a serious injury to either himself or one of our other key players, Son in particular.

It would be hard to argue it wouldn't be the best individual season if he managed to break both records. Can you imagine if we still didn't win anything? No way would he be staying with us.

Didn’t Kane get like 2 assists in the whole of last season?

Keep up fella, we are talking this season. Or unless last season`s assists count for this season.

Why do people place their expectation levels through the roof? Seems stupid to think Kane will keep up this early form, especially the assists, when it's just not reasonable to do so.

He has never previously been someone with lots of assists so just seems a bit dumb.

I prefer it when expectations are low rather than setting a insanely high level of expectation.

Kane isnt a Henry, 20 assists and 20 plus goals in a season seems like people are asking way to much tbh.
Assists from him are a bonus not something he has to provide.

So many non spurs fans assuming these assists this season have been a fluke. Interesting to such opinions, guessing they haven’t watched any of our games in full.

I’m sure there are many more assists from Kane to come.

He may not keep the form up and often players can start out the blocks with goals and assists and it slow down as the season goes on, but what we can say about this season is, we have a much stronger attacking line up which should help contribute to Kane getting more assists. Plus it looks like the lack of fans is contributing to more goals anyway, so expect lots of players to get high totals this season.

Barring any serious injuries, there's no reason to not expect Kane to challenge for both records in this already crazy season so far.

I do agree, and noting salah got crazy numbers as a winger and suarez missed lots of games/didn't take pens, it's definitely possible he could break the record.

I just think it's tempting fate to suggest it's gonna happen. I'd even argue if Kane breaks the goals/assists record then other players haven't pulled their weight.

Kanes link up play has always been unreal i just think lots of fans found it frustrating how deep he was going (and not in the box) but as he has got a few assists lots of posters are endorsing the same thing they were complaining about in the last couple of seasons.

If kane/Vardy/Aguero stayed fit for a full season I'd say they defo have a shout of the record but u need so much luck to go a season with no niggles.

I wouldn't see it from Vardy or Aguero, not anymore. We have to remember that while they are into their 30's now, Kane has entered into what many would see as the peak years for a footballer, so the incredible things he's doing currently could also come down to his own improvement, when he was already a world class player.

He always strikes me as someone who is completely focused on being as good as he can and constantly getting better, hence his goalscoring stats getting better per season before the injuries. If this was any other player with his stats so far this season I wouldn't bother doing an article.

So Kane being Kane, and us now having the quality players around him, the ceiling should be a lot higher. It's like when people, myself included, were thinking if you were to put him in the City team his stats would be way better. Well at Spurs our quality up front is more akin to City's and we're seeing what he's doing.

So let’s look at our one season wonder shall we.............continues to score goals for fun and has added another dimension to his game. He has great vision and can spot a pass even before the receiving player thinks it’s on.
His work rate is also incredible, one minute scoring and the next making a tackle in his own area.

Vardy and Aguero, like Lane, are tradional forwards when they are becoming a rare commodity.

As much as I think Vardys is a b3ll end his speed and strike conversion rate cannot be ignored. If Aguero was fit for a season, which he never is, the records gone.

This season will have plenty of twists n turns and I think and injuries will play a larger part than in previous years, noting the short preseason and lots of teams getting out of the blocks slowly.

Vardy hasn't even got near 30 goals in a season yet, and despite getting off to a great start last season his goalscoring fell away. Aguero could break a goalscoring record if he stayed fit enough, but neither he nor Vardy would get near an assist record in my opinion. They haven't shown the quality of passing that Kane has.

True. They are deadly finishers up their with the best but they couldn't break henrys record. Makes u realise just how silly that record is really when so few can even try to get it.
