Arsenal Send Out A Message To Nigerians

What happened to not getting yourselves involved in politics? 🙄
You can't pick and choose the tragedies that you want to support.
What a pathetic and a classless club Arsenal have become.

It is hypocritical of the club, they shouldn't get involved in any politics. We've got a lot of fans in Nigeria so that's the reason. BLM is political as well but if you upset the woke brigade then they'll boycott you and hit you in the pocket or even start a petition.

A bit reductive that, 8bit. And tbh I doubt any club, Arsenal included, worry about losing the backing of, as you put it, 'the woke brigade'.

And even if the club have been hypocritical, can anyone blame them? As you and DJ say, Arsenal are already well known and loved by many in Nigeria. That stronghold obviously gives them the ability to act from a position of power, with no need to worry whether they'll get shut down by the government, and in turn be hit financially.

However, the club has no such footing in China, and given it's still considered a largely untapped market, of course they're not going to want to do anything to upset the apple cart.

Rightly or wrongly it's as simple as that.

You all want us to sign Aouar next window? Replace Lacazette in the summer? Pay off Ozil before any of that?

That will take money. And the owner won't be digging down the back of his sofa to find any, so...

Blame the club for many things. Just don't blame them for protecting their prospects in what could be a very lucrative marketplace.

Because, you know... that would be a bit hypocritical of you.

The headline says pirates. The story says stowaways who turned violent, are attempting to hijack the tanker and the crew have locked themselves away. The stowaways have control of the ship, which makes them pirates.

There you go. That's all I'm saying.

Lawyers representing the vessel's owners said they knew of the stowaways but the incident was "100% not a hijacking", despite reports.

Not quite sure what any of this has to do with the OP anyway tbh.

The only reaction I heard about was China contacting Arsenal to complain about Ozil. Its not a huge leap of faith to think the treatment of Ozil was after the ongoing communication between Arsenal and China.

-------------------------

Kinda is when the faith is being placed in Ozil. The idea that's being pushed here is for a player whom HAS performed. Because that player would a no valid reason other than their political statement. That's not the case when you have a player with a laundry list of other perfectly good reasons all more valid that him running his mouth about something.

People should not confuse "after" the contact from China, with "because of" the contact from China. There's overwhelming PLAYING evidence and reasons to have shut the player out. And this China BS being touted by him as a reason. Is nothing more than him trying to keep himself appearing the high cash playing asset, in order to line his own pockets on some fat deal elsewhere.

He's had MORE THAN ENOUGH money from AFC and it's fans. In return for little but contempt. Stop helping him pedal the BS myth getting him paid even more off your back.

Right.

No quite sure what the problem here is then...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do not know either to be honest
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To Arsenal fans, there isn't one but to the people making a fuss it's...

"They won't let Ozil plaaay."

All linked to the China conspiracy that's the real reason we dropped a player who was the biggest in PL history.

These boys probably know what really happened to Elvis too

I get the reason why they've done it Lex, every football club and big company is basically forced to act the same way nowadays. The fact that an English football club was pressured into commenting on a political situation in Nigeria is weird. There shouldn't be an expectation on us to comment on this or anything else political.
