LUTON v FOREST Match Thread

Here’s a real opportunity to lay down a marker and kickstart our season

We’re 3 unbeaten under Chris Hughton, and still seem to be finding our feet with the new regime

To be honest, I feel Forest play better and have more of a chance of getting a few points when they play away from home - tonight is a perfect opportunity for us to do just that

Luton, have had a steady start to their campaign, and will provide tough opposition, but I feel we have the squad, depth and quality to go there and get 3 points - it won’t be easy, and I’m not taking anything for granted, but if we want to start showing our intent and imposing ourselves in this League, it’s games like tonight when we really need to go all out for the win

I hope we’ll start off on the right foot, and that we can actually get the first goal to build upon, rather than conceding and end up chasing the game

It would be good to get an early goal and then hopefully control the game - Knockaert is a starter for me, he is quality and with him and Arter, they should really control the Midfield

Let’s hope we can start showing what we’re made of here...tonight

Positives were Colback and Yates both did well. CBs also pretty decent, Figs getting stuck in. Christie put in a superb cross which was only quality final ball all game for Forest. Taylor worked very hard and got better as game went on. Samba is looking back to his best. Luton didn’t let our attacking mids do much and they were all disappointing

The conundrum is where do you fit Arter in, too good to leave out, but could be difficult to fit him in, as the saying goes ‘nice problem to have’.

I think we’ll click sometime soon, and when we do, we’ll give some team a good pasting

Let’s hope it’s this Saturday

Rev, definitely agree with the click comment, I can certainly see things improving, albeit slowly. The result and performance tonight were both positive, things that concern me are, we keep conceding first, haven’t scored more than one goal in a dozen games and have only won one of our last thirteen. We need to go to Bro’ on Saturday with Cloughies mentality, he only ever lost one of 42 games versus Bro’, don’t know what it was but he absolutely owned them.

Not great, but harsh red card.

To come back in the second half with 10 men shows character, but we need much better - to play as a team would be a start.

Figs is a liability. He walks around like he’s hard as nails, but gets consistently beaten in the air and makes mistakes.

Christie was poor other than one cross.

Iannou - wasn’t a red. Ridiculous decision. Hopefully Ribeiro comes back in. No idea why he’s out.

Knockaert, McKenna and Taylor were impressive.

Samba not at fault for the goal.

A solid, dull, but improving performance.

Such a shame about Grosicki. Typical FA.

Must have watched a different game to me as Knockaert did nothing all in the game. He ran a lot but was no goal threat at all and maybe put in one decent cross. He demanded to take set pieces but they were all terrible. Figs had one bad header but otherwise was good and is the perfect partner for McKenna.

I think it was a red card. He didn’t mean it but if you catch someone on the shin with studs up then you’ve got to go.

Bit harsh to blame Samba for the goal. Joe Worrall would have thrown his body in to block it.
I don’t think it was dull. First half was high tempo. Both sides tryig to pass but passes often went astray. Second half more tactical and a battle of wills which we won hands down. Also well done to Jenks second half performance; first appearance and out of position. Did well.

Not too worried about the Grosicki decision. Knockaert, Lolley, Ameobi all do a good job on either flank. Mighten and Freeman can also play wide.
