How good would you be?

Watched a bit of EL footy yesterday and noticed both clubs came away with credible results and Rangers in particular with them winning as well, although that's not a bad point for Celtic either considering the opposition. I've always thought, especially in the EL, both clubs are always competitive and are not pushovers.

It got me thinking, how well do you feel both Celtic and Rangers would do if they were in the Premier League? That would be with current squads and managers alike.

I believe with the current squads, I think they'd both do well to survive. I think, under normal circumstances, it would be a really hostile away journey for most sides and that would do enough to keep both the clubs' heads above water for a season and then, with all the money flying about in the PL, both clubs would really be able to push on the higher echelons of the league, if they got their signings right.

Thoughts?

When the European Superleague starts there will be five or six slots for the premier league to fill with the Scottish contingent. 4 Scottish teams and five teams promoted to the Premier league from the Championship.

Would be a bit unfair to put dross like Aberdeen and whoever else up against the rest of the PL or even Championship for that matter.

Give any club what 170m to spend for entry to the PL am sure they would do ok

Aberdeen the most successful Scottish team in Europe

Assuming they didn't have that money if they were to enter next season, how well would their current squad do, was the original question.

Aberdeen in respect to their current ability, not previous achievements. Considering what seems like one of Aberdeen's most recent promising talents has joined Nottingham Forest, I'd imagine they would not cope at PL level and would probably struggle to maintain Championship status imo.

Just two seasons ago we were drawing at home v Burnley who were a good outfit then

The PL is not that good out with the top 8,9,10 teams

Mckenna is a cart horse and not missed at all

Burnley weren't that good in terms of quality on the field, just had a very good season. We've seen that happen before in the PL.

You're right to an extent, the PL isn't that good outside the top 7/8 sides I'd argue actually, maybe top 10 with the likes of Villa and Leeds looking decent this time around (if they make the top 10 that is), but it's still stronger than what Aberdeen and by quite some distance.

As I say, even though McKenna may not be missed, still one of the better players to come through and he's ended up at Forest. Can't say I look at the Aberdeen squad and see any players that would even get into a PL squad imo, let alone starting for them.

It’s all pointless anyway, Villa have spent around £200m in two seasons

Aberdeen probably the 3rd highest spenders and haven’t spent even £1m

Give PL teams that and let’s see where they are

Aberdeen would comfortably give Fulham, Sheff Utd, Burnley etc a game even with the squad they have now

Celtic, Rangers easily mid table

The PL is over rated

I understand what you're saying in terms of money compared to no money, but that's not what I am saying. I am saying that Aberdeen wouldn't last in the PL with what they currently have, they'd struggle in the Championship. I'd agree Celtic and Rangers mid table or bottom half.

Fulham, Sheff United and Burnley? All 3 of them could end up going down and considering I've said that Aberdeen would struggle in the Championship, yes I'd imagine they would give them a game because they would be competitive, but not good enough against the 3 sides that inevitably get relegated and any top side in the Championship at the moment.

Pointless arguement asking how they would compare without the same money
