Jones and edmundson suspended

Covid breach

Rangers have suspended George Edmundson and Jordan Jones after the pair attended a party, breaching Covid-19 regulations.

A club statement read: "RANGERS have been made aware of an incident last night involving two of our players, Jordan Jones and George Edmundson.

Both players breached covid regulations by attending a private gathering with others outside of their household.

We can confirm that both players will be suspended pending an internal investigation. On the instruction of Dr Mark Waller, the players will also self isolate for 14 days.

Rangers Managing Director, Stewart Robertson commented, “The Chairman Douglas Park, Ross Wilson, Steven Gerrard and I discussed this matter as soon as it was brought to our attention.

"We are completely aligned in our action and the standards that are being set at Rangers.

"We will not tolerate behaviour that does not follow those standards and it is totally unacceptable for any of our players to be involved in anything that puts at risk the excellent protocols that have been put in place at Rangers."

Zach shared an alternative piece, jfk. Semi-conspiracy stuff covering lots of aspects one of which is the refusal of gov to say what the false +ve rate of the PCR test is that we are basing so much on?

Other parts iirc

- you can’t NOT have immunity after infection?
- that no respiratory virus has behaved otherwise
- if you believe the gov infection rate data (to the dubious PCR test) then is transmission MUST be lessening?
- That excess deaths is a myth and in fact are being caused by reluctance / difficulty getting medical attention to stroke, heart and cancer patients.
- Death rate 0.06% of something...?
- Gov has legislated against media spreading alternative views and he can’t get interviewed by any outlet.

Zach might post it here. The guy’s credentials were decent but some of it came across as conspiracy stuff but the media gagging felt the worst aspect.

Lots of articles about the low death rate in India and other ‘manky’ countries because their immune systems are more used to fighting off all sorts

how do you explain the death toll in Brazil then?

given that france is right between spain and italy i'm not shocked are you?

these arguments of not being able to control it and protecting the economy fall to bits when you look at the countries who closed borders, saved people, and saved economies.

it mental that people in the usa, france, spain, or UK can claim it can't be done just because they bawsed it up from the beginning.

it can be done, because it has been done.

i'll find it interesting when this is done to see what the cost was for different countries in terms of financial, economic, physical, and mental health. To see just how countries who pushed the virus to low transmission rates compare to the countries that didn't.

Spot on JFK - I live in Perth, West Australia and they have had the borders shut for 6 months. We have had zero community transmission for 6 months.

close the borders completely, lockdown for a month or so, and problem solved. We have been through autumn and winter here with zero lockdown and zero transmission rates. No restrictions here at all. Our borders are still shut though. Inter state as well as international. We are completely isolated. But its worth it when you see the result. see link below:

New Zealand were the same. Close borders and lockdown, and you get rid of it.

The problem in the UK is they locked down and kept borders open. What is the point of that?

Just out of interest......why did they fvck up so badly in Melbourne when it looks like everything is hunky dory the other side of the country?

Yeah.....you could (and someone will) write a book on the fvck ups made by the UK in "managing" this. That goes for most of Western Europe as well tbf

Self interest to the fore as always...No surprise, until there is an independent body that has full power to run the show then nothing will change. as per North american sports chat earlier

Also, does this not kind of defeat the whole point of a lockdown?

They will argue it is alleviating crowding so a good thing. People want Xmas presents and the shops may not open again. Biz wants to survive so will take all sales and who can blame them?

If it helps people reevaluate the hype that is Xmas it might not be a bad thing but we should be aware that festive season can deliver almost all the profit for the year for some retail and hospitality.
