Maguire

So I'm not sure if anyone else saw this - it escaped my attention until today - but there were what I think are some slightly concerning comments made by our captain after Sundays defeat:

'He told the club’s official website: “I don’t think the concentration was there in the first half, in terms of the cleanness of the passing.

“Maybe we were a bit complacent [after the Leipzig win], everybody was patting us on the back.'

I can't find them now, but it reminded me a little of (i think) Luke Shaw's comments after our post-Paris collapse last year, where he talked about that victory going to the players heads and contributing to our poor form.

It could well be a case of players who aren't great with the media just saying whatever pops into their head at the time, but i think it raises serious questions about the leadership within this squad - and as someone who has championed Ole's influence on the team's mentality, I would have to include him in that.

If that's your best attack on him, it's pathetic

I'd say Pogba is worse because he just ambles around with a can't be ar 5ed attitude.

I like to describe it as that he 'Swans' about on the pitch.

When was the last time we can say that Pogba had a superb game?

I honestly can't remember. the 2-3 comeback against City?

That was a superb 30 minutes. I’ll be honest, I’ve given up on Pogba.

I can't really remember one. (In a Robson, Keane kind of a way). Yes he was good in that City game. He's shown moments occasionally... If United play well he looks OK. If United play badly he looks terrible.

Tbf to Pogba he’s spent a lot of the last few months playing out of position. Seems bizarre giving a player like him as much defensive responsibility.

Even still, out of position, he should be able to complete basic footballing tasks.

Also these magurie comments are because he is and always will be an average defender playing for a big team.
Average mentality on the guy as well

As Captain he should not be saying that stuff and should be getting the teams heads in the game before hand.

Well, lets's face it. At United currently, he is not alone.

It’ll be very interesting to see how these ‘average’ players do under a manager who knows how to coach players to a higher ceiling than our current one.
