Good afternoon pop pickers and welcome
To whatever we are served with today,
This is going to go either mega excellent game
And 3-3 or 4-3..
Or an awful game of shuffle ball and 00/10
Luckily wolves will not park the bus
Not having the best of days
Trying to rest as much as possible
Got a feeling the para medics may be out by tonight
Lots of drugs and rest today,,
Teams should be out

I’m not sure the issue of VAR being used and VAR being used incorrectly have to be mutually exclusive. On this occasion, in terms of the current rules being applied, it’s the latter.
I think the issue you highlight is the main one - VAR or not, the rules need to be more objective.

Ha! * - it’s not the latter.

I have to say, I don’t think VAR has added to the spectacle of football. I just wait after every goal now thinking “what was wrong with that”.
What really disgusts me are perfectly good goals like Bamfords rules off, or goals chalked off for a heel of someone walking back inside being a mm off.
If it’s to be used, for me it needs to be a clear and obvious error and the linesman needs to go back to flagging if he thinks it’s offside. I’m sick of attacking teams getting an advantage when a clear offside is allowed to play on and then the player cuts back, keeps possession and then 2 phases later the team get a corner. Erm what, he was a mile off 10 seconds ago!!!
Just watching MOTD and in their poll they’ve just said that 70% want rid.
Looks like you’re not alone Dunge.

I think 100% want rid at the minute - in terms of how it’s used, 99% of the time. It’s a joke

No. No no no. VAR itself is the problem. Not the people who use it. There will never be a state we can get VAR into where it will be for the good of the game. It is the black dog sitting in the middle of the pitch.
I get frustrated by poor officiating decisions as well, but this was never the answer to it. Goal-line technology, yes. VAR no. I have never backed it because I’ve seen how horrible it is in rugby, constantly waiting for decisions and seeing great moves and tries chalked off because someone’s found an infringement that everyone had missed at the time. It’s not like in tennis or cricket where exact decisions are needed.
Football’s laws are subjective and VAR is not. That is the problem.

No No No No No No No No No No No No...
The laws that made football work because they’re *not* objective. Those laws shouldn’t change!
The problem is that we’re trying to view them through an objective eyeglass (VAR). The solution is to stop using the eyeglass!

But they are objective Dunge.
Offside, red cards and handballs all have very clear written objective rules.
Surely the application of VAR whether it’s by the ref or not remains a subjective application of the objective rules? Take our handball yesterday for example. People are still debating it - the ref made a subjective decision using VAR at the pitch side.
Not saying I’m in favour of it, but for me mistakes from VAR are just the same as mistakes by the ref or linesman in real time.
Now, if you are arguing whether the delays to the game and removal of enjoyment of goals is a reaso to remove VAR, I’m with you. It spoils it, but you seem to be arguing the VAR has changed the application of rules, when it hasn’t, it’s just tried to improve the accuracy of them.
By the way, I hate it for clarity!
