Fitness goals through lockdown

Bit of a ghost town this board.

Lockdown is the Collins Dictionary Word of the Year and has obviously had a huge impact on all of our training goals.

With gyms closing and home equipment almost impossible to come by, how have your plans for 2020 shaped up?

I started this year on the back of breaking my ankle in 2019 (third time ) and had set the target of having one last crack at playing football at a decent level, focusing all my training on that. It didn't really workout.

I only managed one or two appearances before lockdown wrote off the season. During lockdown I focused on 5 - 10k's and circuit training which got me into great shape for the start of preseason. Unfortunately as soon as the preseason games began to kick in I realised that my body just can't handle the rigours of 11 a side football anymore. Knee pain, ankle pain, couldn't train for two or three days after a game.

Goal from here out is to just get absolutely stacked. Been doing a 5 X 3 strongman routine for the past 6 - 8 weeks but trapped a facking nerve last week that has put an early hold on my venture back into bodybuilding.. getting fed up of these injuries.

Sold a set of adjustable dumbbells back in April for £650. Cost me around £200 a couple of years back - absolutely insane the price of fitness equipment during the middle of this year.

How about you? Achieved your goals for 2020? How has Covid affected them? Plans for next year?

The best thing I did over lockdown was cut out added sugar. No sugary drinks, sweets or desserts and such. They are not needed. Unless doing a big mountain. Then it's allowed.

I've wanted to do this so often in the past. Just don't have the will power.

Love a can of coke too much!

Yep, no real need for sugar. Once you get in the habit no sugar life is sweet.

Been really good for the gym the last month (since I got a fitness watch). Displaced a lot of body fat with muscle. Been mixing it up too, fitness sessions, strength sessions, hyper trophy sessions etc

Are you aye? What are you going to do when the gyms close for a month at least? I am back to the outdoor gym. Going to be a struggle with the weather.
