Microsoft Wants Bethesda Games 'First'

Crap as I’m getting a ps5 but didn’t expect anything else when they paid £7bn for the company

Not sure what they mean exactly, surely they won’t limit their sales and not make the game available on PS5/Sony consoles?

I’m not fussed if it’s an exclusive for the first year on Xbox etc, I can wait, or even if they mean ‘better’ by the Xbox version coming with a few free perks or add ons etc.

I'm guessing that certain games will be first in Xbox, others will come in a better version and some with be both. They also might put out patches and updates first for their PC and Xbox games first and priorities them over OS versions.

Won't bother me really as we end up with all the consoles and have a PC as well. Besides, most of those games are better on PC than console anyway, which tend to be inferior versions of the PC version of the game.

I will be honest even as a PC player I am not even sure I am that interested in Beth games anymore as they have been on a pretty steep decline for a while - ES6 will have to do something incredible, but honesty at this moment in time I am expecting hot garbage on a very broken and outdated engine that looks like as of this moment a last-last gen game.

I hope I am wrong but since CDPR usurped the RPG crown 5 years ago Bethesda has failed to deliver, and even others have kicked them while they are down - and the worrying thing is all I have heard is they are updating their engine........

Also Sony have pretty much always had crappy ports and very bad support from Bethesda so not that much is changing - do you remember playing Fallout 3/4 or Elderscrolls on a Sony console? Thats right you don't as they barely ran and were buggy messes!

The only franchise I'm really that bothered about under Beth's publishing house is Doom.

I thought Skyrim sucked tbh and wasn't a patch on Oblivion - a game on which I'm sure I invested a good 300+ hours into on my PS3!

Wolfenstein is a nice franchise, but not a "must-have". Starfield sounds like it could be interesting, but who knows at this point (think of no man's sky!)

Skyrim was good but it's a game more suitable for console than PC. They've toned down the rpg elements of the game. It was still fun, especially with all the mods thar at still coming out.
Oblivion and Morrowind were better (Morrowind edges it for me). Many still making mods for these as well.
Backing by Microsoft could make them great again. Or not. They have a lot of IPs there and Doom is always fun.

Fallout 3...yikes I remember getting to the Operation Anchorage part where I think there's some sort of battle and my save file would crash every single time which left me scuppered. That was in 2010 and haven't been back to it since.

Admittedly not my genre, but I think Doom (2016) is the best shooter I’ve ever played. Picked it up purely for the sake of nostalgia and couldn’t put it down - gameplay, graphics, difficulty, soundtrack - all awesome.

Still yet to play Eternal

But yeh Sony never really got those great a port especially in the PS3 era
