BARNSLEY v FOREST Match Thread

Barnsley away for the 2nd time this season - I think we’ll be a different proposition this time though

Barnsley themselves have had a little revival of late, but I feel we’re a better team and have better players than they do - on paper we should get 3 points, but as always with Forest, we never do anything straight forward

I expect us to go there and get 3 points, a draw wouldn’t be disastrous, a loss, and to be honest, we’ll be back at square one again

Seriously, I think Forest should approach this game with incentive, purpose and an attitude that we should be there for 1 thing - to get the win

Whether that happens remains to be seen, but I expect Chris Hughton to have the starting 11 in the right frame of mind and with the right approach from the off

Once again, as always with Forest, here’s hoping.

Good evening Rev, and a spot on match preview. Yeah, we have much better players than Barnsley, on paper that is. But significantly, we have Chris Hughton. I really hope he’s been able to further improve us a team during the International break. We’ll see tomorrow I guess.

Ok calm down, that is pretty classless my friend.

So is the original post. Much better players than us. Where? And we have Chris.
You were away to one of the form sides in the league.

I have given due credit to Barnsley in my previous post’s if you’d care to look through them.
I said that Barnsley were no mugs turning over Watford & Bristol City. I hope Barnsley spank a few more sides.

Easy to underestimate Barnsley, but even so we should not have lost that. It's that old problem game management; our first substitution at 70 minutes and 0-0 should have been a defensive one to make sure we didn't concede. A point today would have been acceptable. Among other things we need to learn is how to be ruthless in both boxes; be more physical; let the opposition know we are there. The defence waits for things to happen and then reacts (often too late ) rather than stopping things happening in the first place.
If we start with two strikers we should have had a striker on the bench instead of one of the three full backs.

My sentiments exactly. There is no way we should have under estimated Barnsley especially after our recent fruitless visits there. The simple fact is Barnsley took their chances, we wasted ours. They weren’t particularly better than us, just more ruthless.

This team is so unpredictable - looking at out next 8 games we could end up losing the lot of them

A good game of football and an improvement again.

Barnsley were decent, although I think a point would’ve been a fair result. We created the better chances, their shots were worldies!

This is our worst start since the McClaren season.

Last year was our second best start since promotion from league 1.

No more needs saying really....

Agreed; with probably a better starting eleven this season than both the other seasons. Last season we started the season with the following eleven against WBA:

Muric, Cash, Dawson, Worrall, Robinson; Semedo, Watson, Silva; Lolley, Grabban, Adomah.

For me only Cash, Worrall, Watson, and Grabban would be in the team now. and two of those are to come back from injury, so we definitely have the players.

Does this mean Sabri was a better coach than we give him credit for?

I’d say he was a very decent coach and turned us into a decent side. Something happened and things went badly wrong. Maybe something internal because there have been some strange goings on in this club. He definitely had to go but he also deserves some credit. Hughton has a huge job on his hands.

I just hope Chris Hughton can rediscover his managerial ability with Paul Trollope as his assistant. From what I have read his best period was when Colin Calderwood was his assistant at Newcastle and Brighton.
