Can we win it?

Honest thoughts here. Can we win the league ? Part of me feels with the manager we now have in charge and the change of mentality he’s slowly implementing, we certainly have as good of a chance as anybody, but part of me also thinks we are Spurs and how many times have we been burnt down the years ? How many times have we been given false hope, only for it to be snatched away from us?!

I don’t think there are many supporters that have witnessed and had so many opportunities to create something big, only to fall short at the last hurdle every single time. Us Spurs fans are used to this, but can this change?

Now, I’m not expecting us to win the league this season, as I have already stated on numerous occasions, I think winning one of the small cups this season and getting top 4 is progression. Just to win a trophy is progression. But, can we really go the full way and win the huge one ?

No. I don't think Spurs squad is good enough and the team is too dependent on Kane and Son. Midfield is average and I think that when Spurs have to play teams that sit deep they will find it tough to.break them down. Best I could see Spurs finishing is 3rd, but they could just as easily finish outside the top 4.

These next run of fixtures will give a clearer picture on Spurs. Great start agst City, but some tough games Co. I g up for them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We are dependent on 2 of our players ? Oh the shock. I think most teams are dependent on their best players. Liverpool without Mane and Salah are nowhere near as strong. City without Sterling and De Bruyne are not as strong. So, why are Spurs being singled out ? Fact is, we have 2 players in Son and Kane who are up there amongst the best in the world. Then you forget we still have Gareth Bale. We got an absolute brilliant squad this season, there’s no doubt about it. Is it good enough to win the league ? Who knows, but to say our squad isn’t good and our midfield average is an incredibly weak argument. Hojberg has probably been the signing of the season, so I’m not sure where you got this from
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well look at Liverpool as the example. They have been ravaged by injuries, yet 2nd onGD.

II don't think your squad is good enough. You midfield is just so feckin average. You can only play one way, which is to counter. That won't be enough with your limited midfield
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep and we have proven down the years we can still win games without Son and Kane. Our squad is excellent this season and the best it’s been in years. Our midfield isn’t average. If anything, our defence is our weakness, but even Jose has managed to rectify that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Proving you can win games is not the same as proving you can win the PL. When have you proven you can win the PL? I don't think your squad is as good as what Poch had a few years back, far from it.

They haven`t been ravaged by injuries. They have had injuries like all clubs have had. They have one long term injury, VVD, and TAA and Salah have only actually missed one game, and one or two other squad players are also out injured. Other clubs have had injuries as well.

As I said if they are missing their key players for say two or three months all at the same time, like Spurs were last season, then you may have a point.

Spurs are now missing Toby, Lamela, Doherty etc but will just get on with it.

Oh and Spurs don`t just play one way, they absolutely murdered both United and Southampton with attacking football. Get a grip fella. I would take a Spurs midfield with includes Ndombele, PEH, Lo Celso and Sissoko over most midfields in the division. There is a reason Spurs are unbeaten since the beginning of the season, because every part of the team, and that includes the midfield, are doing their jobs to a very high quality.

You don`t go unbeaten for so long , and beat teams like City, United, Chelsea, Southampton etc with a rubbish midfield.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We are unbeaten in 13 games. As far as I am concerned that means nothing. I can still see the weaknesses in my team and know that unless Chelsea continue to improve we won't win the title.

You don't win titles by looking back over a handful of games past and cite that as evidence of title credentials. Just plain stupid thinking

Well big difference, we now have a manager that knows how to win trophies, where as Pochettino didn’t. You can see the mentality shift from last season to now. The players are clearly playing for Mourinho. Like I say, that doesn’t mean we will win the title, but we certainly are up there and have the squad capable of it.

I think the point is the volume of injuries, not just the length of time. Constantly having to make changes because key players are missing every week. The likelihood is 2/3 key first team players minimum are missing each game at the moment.

Spurs wouldn't cope without the likes of Kane or Son for 3/4 games, as proven last season. I know your squad has improved on paper, but this doesn't mean anything because your squad hasn't proven anything.

I'm not sure why you keep banging on about Southampton as if they were good at the time of playing them. You'd actually be better off saying you've played (and subsequently lost to) Everton when they made a good start.

Much like Liverpool a couple of seasons ago, I feel like draws will be Spurs' Achilles heel this season.

If Spurs win the league, I will be one of the first to come on here and say I got it horribly wrong. I promise that.

It's only my opinion and its no better or worse than anyone else's. In another 29 games from now we will know the ohtcome

He is also a manager that has proven in the last 6 years that his teams struggle to break down opposing teams that defend deep. I am not convinced that will change this season.

I will only see the mentality shift when I see Spurs lift some silverwhere. Spurs have a fantastic chance to win the Carebo Cup this season. If they are gonna be title winners this season then they have a chance to show that by winning this cup
