Maradona RIP

Bit of a flawed genius, I believe it was rumoured we were trying to buy him at some stage, don't know how true that was and I cannot believe he would ever have settled.

Was only reading about him earlier today in the context of him following in Bielsa's footsteps at Argentina and gesturing to reporters who displeased him to suck his ****. Not a pleasant man but one of the true greats of the game.

Genius footballer ..... flawed genius (don't all people we class as a genius have flaws?).

No more a cheat than players feigning injury in the modern game.

Messi or Maradona .... who cares - both remarkable.

One word .........Cheat

------------------

I wasn't going to rise to this, but as usual Lowfeilds manages to get my nerves !!

apart from being very disrespectful towards a brilliant player who has passed away, or indeed disrespectful to another human being who lost his life.

I just hope lowfeilds doen't comment when Henry dies, or when most footballers for that matter pass away, as some form or another, a dark art has been played to gain advantage in professional sport.

lowfeilds, you should be ashamed of yourself, lowlife, would be a more fitting name

That's what he was, not ashamed at all, just because he's died changes nothing.

well at least you're consitant, you don't like our players either.. I assume its because they all have 'cheated' at some point in thier career.

I read somewhere that Maradona asked Bielsa to go to Boca to coach them but Bielsa hated the owner and siad he wouldn't even meet him for a coffee but said he would walk the earth for Maradona. Something along those lines.

There's a good article on Maradona here:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/nov/27/brave-intelligent-diego-maradona-was-a-man-who-moved-through-different-air

Reading it hasn't diminished my loathing of cheating and cheats, however.

It's one thing to say, okay, Diego Maradona was a great player but not a great human being, but its quite another to say he was such a great player that the giant flaw in his integrity as a human being doesn't therefore matter so much. My point is, surely being a great human being is a prerequisite to being a great footballer. A football player who is not a great human being - who has no integrity - can't possibly be called a "great player."

I wonder what Bielsa, who is possibly one of the greatest ever coaches, thinks about this.

I also wonder why some of you have targeted Lowfields without also targeting me. Lowfields was only agreeing with my earlier comment. Why him and not me?
