Anton Ferdinand documentary

I watched the Anton Ferdinand documentary on BBC player last night.

For those who don't know, Anton was involved in an on the pitch racist incident some years ago, trusted the process to the FA and courts and suffered horrendous abuse as a consequence which has hugely affected his life.

It was an eye opener as to how broad this affect was, the guilt he was made to feel and the guilt he feels about the subsequent loss of his mother.

I felt physically sick to see some of the abuse he received, to hear of the death and rape threats to his family, to hear that he received bullets through the post and the whole while had been made to feel that this was somehow his fault.

I would advise everyone to watch this so that they understand the impact or racism, sexism, whatever ism you want, but the impact on someone that abuse can have along with systems and processes that are not as fair and impartial as they should be.

Not sure what that has to do with my question tbh.
Your point may be due to the fact that John Terry was a better defender at that stage.

Jonty how did they treat anton in his interview? I thought they only showed the John Terry one so isn't it hard to compare? Also Terry was found guilty by the FA and not the police so surely the FA treated it with more seriousness?I haven't seen the documentary myself so just wonder how the FA handled it shambolically if they were the ones who found him guilty?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ferdinand said he was made to feel as if it was his fault and lots of questions asked that didnt seem relevant. Same person interviewed Terry, FA provided a CD with 4 mins of interviewee's, where the lady was joking about the referees performance and it came across as a jovial chat rather than a formal questioning.

He was found guilty by the FA as there was a lower burden of proof.

Terry\'s defence was that he was only repeating what he claimed Ferdinand had said, so in the courts the judge said he that despite Ferdinand being a credible witness that there was potential for there to have been a misunderstanding and so if there was any doubt they had to find Terry not guilty.

I thought it was telling that in teh interview Terry made no apologies for language he was using, I would have expected him to say excuse me for this language but this is shat I heard, he did not.

He also never apologised to Ferdinand for the incident, nor did he respond to Ferdinand's request to meet, clear the air etc.

This wasn't meant to bash Terry, just to say how it came across and the huge impact it had on Ferdinand, was really really shocking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dont mind you bashing Terry, what he done was wrong. I just don't know what else the FA could have done in this instance. If we don't have footage of anton's interviews we just have to take him on his word. Also Carlton Cole and others have said John Terry tried to contact ferdinand and did to apologise.

Also 4 minutes of interview is not a great sample, just having my lawyer head on.

No.
1. John Terry shouldn’t be included in the squad due to that incident
2. They left Rio out because he was Anton’s cousin, not footballing reason. Terry might be a good defender at that stage, but the other options were Phil Jones, Gary Cahill and Jescott.

Well that then, I agree, unless has some legal remifications, is where the FA come short. Should release both antons and terrys interviews.

If John terry is having a joke or two but the rest is getting grilled it would look better on the FA. If it is all a jolly up then those people should be sacked

It was the FA interviewer having a joke with Terry, she mentioned the referee's performance in a light hearted manner, really inappropriate.

Is there any other way I can watch this without going through the hassle of paying for a VPN?

Download a free VPN, I use Windscribe which allows me to download a small amount of data, plenty for this programme but I am sure others exist.
