He got himself sent off, and cost you a result. Really lucky not to go a lot earlier in the game, but ref seems to think it's legal to headbutt someone.

Fred's first half antics caught up with him.
But still it's reasonable to assume the opposition will target a player on a yellow, even if they didn't have to in the end.
