Leeds Utd v Chelsea Matchday Thread

Welcome to the Matchday Thread and a trip to Stamford Bridge for a late kick off against Mr Lamplard and his gang , this has all the makings of a juicy encounter

Venue...Stamford Bridge...Date...05th Dec...Kick Off 20:00hrs

Team News
Leeds United
Diego Llorente is fit for Leeds but boss Marcelo Bielsa says he would prefer the centre-back to play for the under-23 side before making his debut.

Pablo Hernandez, Jamie Shackleton and Adam Forshaw remain sidelined.
Looks like an unchanged squad from the Everton game but who knows, Rodrigo might get a start

Chelsea
Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard must decide whether to hand Olivier Giroud his first Premier League start of the season following the Frenchman's four-goal haul against Sevilla on Wednesday.

Lampard says he has a fully-fit squad to choose from for Saturday's match.
(Didn't he rest 9 of them in their win over Sevilla )

Links............…...Sky Sports or...…….……..
Video....... Hesgoal, usagoals Beinsports ? getting harder to find
(there's also streams on Social media I believe )

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head

The last top-flight meeting was in May 2004, when Jesper Gronkjaer headed the only goal at Stamford Bridge to give Chelsea victory in their final match under Claudio Ranieri.
Leeds have only won two of their 12 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge, with the most recent victory coming on 19 December 1999 when Stephen McPhail scored both goals.

Chelsea
The Blues have won 82% of their Premier League home games against newly-promoted clubs, the best record of any side to have played more than one season in the division.
Chelsea are unbeaten in eight league matches - only Tottenham are currently enjoying a longer undefeated streak in the English top flight.
They could record three consecutive Premier League clean sheets for the first time since a run of four in December 2017.
Frank Lampard's side have scored 22 Premier League goals, a joint-high with Liverpool.

Leeds United
Premier League matches involving Leeds have produced a total of 289 shots, more than any other side, with the Whites ranking second for most shots taken (153) and fifth for shots faced (136).
They have also created 103 chances from open play - no other side has reached triple figures prior to the weekend fixtures.
The Yorkshire club have won three of their five Premier League away games this season, equalling their final total from their last top-flight campaign in 2003-04.
Leeds can record three successive Premier League clean sheets for the first time since 2002.
Marcelo Bielsa won three of his four managerial meetings with Frank Lampard during the Englishman's season in charge of Derby in 2018-19, but lost the decisive play-off semi-final second leg at Elland Road.
Six of Patrick Bamford's seven Premier League goals this season have come away from home.

There it is then, a tough game that will give us problems, can't see Lampard underestimating us (especially since he apparently rested 9 players in their win over Sevilla) so he'll be looking to pull off a sneaky win, Can't see it happening, we'll nick this 1-2 with Raph getting the 1st and Paddy nicking the Win in the dying minutes

Over to You..........................Predictions etc...................

Come Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds!!!

It would be a mistake to try to blame this defeat on them having 2000 fans in the stadium. I don't recall any big decisions going their way really. Re the Poveda penalty, I don't think even our lads appealed for it did they?

Not blaming the defeat on it. They were better than us and deserved the win.

Stevie Wonder could see that it is patently unfair to allow fans back for some and not all.

Anyway onwards and upwards - cheers Highland , cheers lads and lasses.

For once in my life, I’ve got to agree with you!

I wouldn't beat yourselves up too much about it.

Personally I thought you did pretty well and had me worried on occasions.

You're one of the better and more entertaining (certainly more entertaining than $purs last week) teams we've played!

I don't see you having any problem staying up, so plenty for you to be +ve about.

After being nice to you I'm now going to wash my mouth out with dettol.

Looking on MOTD I can’t see how that penalty wasn’t given. If we are to have video refs then they have to be able to act retrospectively if a player is fouled and doesn’t go down. Im not 100% sure but I’m fairly certain I’ve seen goals ruled out after var has seen a foul earlier in the move.

2-2 at that point would have been game over I think.

Chelsea are good though. Even though we had more possession it wasn’t as far up the pitch as normal for us.

great 1st half, chelsea took over the 2nd half

1 stat i did notice, since 2004 chelsea have spent £640m on playing staff, we have spent £185m, this does not include wages, says it all

again we did ourselves proud

Stoopo, I've said a few times here that VAR would call play back when something happens, and when they aren't sure they will contact the Ref and say I think you should look at it!..

But, VAR is still in the early stages by you's, so maybe they will get it right eventually, its just between them doing that and now there'll be a lot more shouts like last nights!..

And they still get some shouts wrong over here!..
