10/12/20 - Royal Antwerp (H) (EL)
13/12/20 - Crystal Palace (A)
16/12/20 - Liverpool (A)
20/12/20 - Leicester (H)
23/12/20 - Stoke (A) (CC)
27/12/20 - Wolves (A)
30/12/20 - Fulham (H)
Those are our fixtures up until the new year. Off the back of Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal, then the above is a real challenge.
Fortunately the squad is generally quite fit at the moment, and the way we play seems to help us deal with fixture congestion, real team play, sitting deep and containing the opposition.
The eye is immediately drawn to the back to back Liverpool and Leicester games. Two interesting games.... Our style should be perfect for Liverpool, but they are so good going forward that its likely that our defence and keeper will all have to be in great form, and then Leicester tend to approach the big games as we do.. so that will be a really interesting tactical battle, and probably a stalemate.
We have qualified for EL knockouts so I would give the whole first team Thursday off, as they have 3 tough games in the league before the CC tie, where I also want to go strong, maybe with 3 or 4 changes.
If we can get through those fixtures and be top or within 3 points of the top, and in the CC semi final, then we will have had an excellent first half of the season.
What points haul are you expecting from the above?

As per José's mantra, I guess we just keep taking one game at a time.
We should want to win on Thursday and finish top of our group - I think it just keeps the right mentality.
Then on to Palace

The Liverpool game will be telling. Get a result there and people may start taking Spurs seriously.

Why? If we won every game in the list except for that we’d be at worst 3 points off top almost halfway through the season. Surely getting 7/9 points vs Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal allows us to be taken seriously?

Unfortunately, Spurs are still not being taken seriously by the media and pundits. I personally don't know what we need to do to get even a reasonable level of recognition, but it is what it is.
Some of the "well it was ugly football" or "they won't sustain a challenge" are rife across the media channels this morning, and will continue no matter how well we do.
To be honest we must be the only team that is top of the league with the best defense around, who are still getting critics here there and everywhere. Remember when Leicester were winning in 16/15 ? the media ( and the rest of the country ) could not stop praising them up.
Sick of it really, particularly as Sky and the Beeb continue to look no further tha Liverpool and Utd, no matter what is going on.
