Dortmund

I've noticed that Dortmund have sacked their manager Lucien Favre after getting thrashed 5-1 by Stuttgart, and 3 defeats in 5.

He leaves them 5 points off top (same as Utd at the moment of publishing) AND through to the next stage of the CL. No messing around from the germans. Are Dortmund showing more ambition?

If you sack Ole for some pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, are you all happy to wait 18 months to 2 years for a slow turnaround while the new man implements his changes and builds a squad.

Are you also happy to accept that there's every chance we'll employ the new Unai Emery?

Im alright with incremental progress right now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I recently lost faith in ole and I can give a detailed reasoning behind this
but even still it will be beyond silly to sack him right now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's all I think. There's a lot of squealing for him to get binned from people that don't know any better though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's all about timing.

We don't want to be in a situation where we sack a manager and yet again have no good alternatives.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree.

Why knee jerk on the back of a champions league defeat and a draw with city then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, this isn't knee jerk from me, I've never been convinced by Ole after the honeymoon phase.

There's been a sacking today, and they'll be a few more to come. If these clubs hire the top managers and leave us with scraps again, we'll be back at square one to say the least.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you define the ‘honeymoon phase’?

Because I’m pretty sure that we’ve racked up more points in 2020 than any other PL side - which would suggest to me a great deal of consistency in terms of the bottom line - as well as currently being top of the PL form table.

What's your big plan that we're going to miss out on if we don't sack Ole right now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends on who the club after looking at as potential successor.

If we start drifting away from top 4, he'll have to go though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's your big plan????
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not the one with the plan, Ed is.

So be afraid, be very afraid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Given the Woodward and the Glazers have demonstrated that they don’t have any kind of idea what they’re doing, repeatedly, would we not be wiser to hope we hang on to a coach who has been the most successful in the PL over the last 11 months?

His first couple of months, you know that.

As far as those stats, it's like when Hafi quotes stats that don't match what we actually see in games.

We just don't look that good, and our home form is terrible.

But they're stats relating to points gained vs points gained by other teams... there's no possibility of misinterpretation.

Are you saying you're not bothered about points and places, it's all about the playing style?

You sound like me seriously though, you need to make your mind up.

Dortmund generally win fack all. They’ve sacked this manager who has won fack all to appoint the next one who will likely win fack all.

Don’t see why anyone should follow this model.

Fergie wasn’t a rookie manager in the job for less than 2 years, trust you to make that pitiful comparison though

Anyway, Dortmund - Poch will join and Robb will say that we missed our opportunity.

If Poch doesn’t join Dortmund, I’d have to say that it looks like he’s waiting for the United job to become available for some reason. I’d be bloody impressed and quite happy if that ends up being the case; getting a manager that has waited and turned down other jobs just to join us would be a huge positive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The only question being, why on earth would Poch want to become the Man U manager, and be part of a liturgy of managerial failures.?

Or could be the first one since SAF to succeed. I doubt many managers go into a job thinking about failure.
