I expected it to be a full blooded elbow that really badly injured the victim when i heard it was being relooked at. But in all honestly it was a bit meh.... Stupid from Morelos, almost childlike. He made a bit of a meal of it as it was pretty half hearted.

But hes a bit of a fud and made an erchie of it. He is guilty of being a bit thick and immature.

He deserves what he gets. The main person who will suffer out of this is Morelos himself.

If Itten gets in the groove in the next couple of games then fatty will find himself on the bench.

Ooh, it’s all so macho! But credit if he has a calibrated elbow, boot or whatever that can hurt but not injure.

But powder buff might stick?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A 'calibrated elbow' !!??

You never play football Silver?

I was a CB for over 30 years. Happened plenty of times a centre forward gives you an extra dunt with an arm or elbow when you are challenging for a ball. It was pretty much par for the course in the first couple of challenges in particular.

They aren't necessarily trying to 'injure' you or do you any damage.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think everyone gets that and its commonplace.

Morelos wasnt challenging for the ball though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The ball was there or there abouts though and he should have been challenging for it.

As I said he got it all wrong - he doesn't have the subtlety or the brains to do it right. What he did was obvious and clumsy and deserved a red.

But for me there isn't any real basis for concluding he set out to 'injure' the player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never played to any club level, Hamish but was pretty decent 5s player. Rugby school, unfortunately.

The flippant comment about the calibrated elbow is in response to the implied criticism that refs are supposed to have calibrated eyes and know he didn't set out to injure him? To paraphrase Shankly's observation about the offside rule, WTF was he doing then? In case you hadn't noticed the game is going only one way in trying to remove the dark arts and head protection from the game. If you live by the sword then you have to die by it too and, as you say, he's not very good at it.

protection = injuries

BTW, in checking it was indeed Shankly that opined about the offside I had a right good chuckle at his quotes. We miss characters like him in the game.

Enjoy!

I actually think that Rangers have played a bit of a blinder here in accepting the decision quickly, giving them an easy out to not play Morelos for a couple of games and at the same time setting a precedent for similar future challenges for payers of all teams. Who'd have thought that we would get the morale high ground

There won't be a precedent in my opinion. I don't agree with how the compliance officers select what to review but ignoring who has been and hasn't been charged in the past, Morelos deserves a suspension and challenging the charge would've been a waste of everyone's time.

I hope Itten gets an opportunity and smashes it and Morelos is challenged to get back in the team.
