Youssoufa Moukoko

Dortmund are in a bit of a shambles at the moment and lost again today to Union Berlin but, my word, have you seen this Moukoko kid?

I’m massively at risk of a knee jerk reaction here, but the kid is 16 and was very easily the best player on a pitch that included the much-coveted Jadon Sancho.

Very exciting talent and would be interested to hear if anybody on here knew a bit more about him? Can’t say I’d ever heard about him beforehand!

So he was 49 when she gave birth at 16, blimey.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seems he was 66 and she was 16. Nice birthday present he gave her
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's only 65 now. Is he a time traveller? There is a book in there somewhere.

The time travellers b@stard.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometimes 65. Sometimes 72.

Easily explained by the fact that he sometimes leaves out the years he spent in primary 7.

It’s as if Dortmund as playing the long game in Footy Manager with him, Sancho, Harland, Bellingham, Reyna, and I’m sure a few others I’ve yet to mention.

Incredible to have a squad like that and be struggling so badly this season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Incredible to have a squad full of youngsters and see inconsistent results? It’s perfectly predictable.

And they’re fourth place in the table with two wins fewer than an all-conquering Bayern side. They’re hardly “struggling badly”.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They’ve lost 3 of their last 5 league games including a 5-1 home loss to Stuttgart. Their form doesn’t look like it’s going to pick up any time soon and their best player is injured until next year.

They’re obviously not going to be relegated but if they don’t pick up their form soon CL football probably won’t be happening next season. They’re a shambles at the back.

Bit of context, Robb.

They played Koln off the park and conceded two goals by leaving players unmarked at corners.

They had over 70% of the possession against Union, and, as against Koln, were wasteful with an absolute raft of attempts.

You're going to get that with a bunch of young players. United fans should know that better than anyone.

They seem to have problems playing out from the back. Beyond that, from the match reports and analysis I've read, they aren't playing badly at all. They just keep giving up really daft soft goals.

Cut those errors out, and they look like a pretty decent side for a massively, massively inexperienced group of players.

They have two forwards (Reus and Brandt) over the age of 20. 13 of their 28 squad members are 21 years old or younger.

Nobody should be expecting a title challenge from a squad in this stage of development. They make Fergie's Class of '92 sides look like groups of ageing veterans.

They just sacked their manager as the performances were below par and there’s no real sign that anything is going to get better. It’s their choice to fill their side with kids rather than use a handful and that will lead to a lot of bad results.

As I said, i don’t see them having a terrible season. But it’s bad enough that a manager had to be sacked and I can’t see anything good happening bar another season of experience for younger players.

Yeah, that's fair enough.

Some people seem to be suggesting that they're in complete crisis, and I was just pointing out that that really isn't the case.

They're sat in a decent position in the league for a side with a super low average age, haven't been played off the park week after week having seen a couple of unlucky/unfortunate results, and seem to have some pretty easily recognisable problems, which you would think (barring the lack of forwards with a bit of experience) should be quite easily addressed.

From what I've read, Favre wasn't dismissed primarily as a result of recent results, although they probably helped the club make the decision. There's been talk about the style of play and the club wanting to move in a different direction for some time.

I might actually expect things to get worse before they get better if I were a Dortmund fan, because if the club are looking for a change in style and approach, the new boss will have a lot of work to do with the players to implement the same.

I can’t see them getting CL football tbh. Bayern, Leipzig, Leverkusen and BM might well push on. Interestingly there’s supposed to be an agreement that Marco Rose from Die Föhlen takes over at Dortmund so that might end up costing BM a place in the CL if there’s uncertainty about their own manager.
