Is it all Jose?

I mean, does he tell the players to deliberately lose possession? I doubt it.
Those players should be good enough to win back the ball, knock a few passes about and build an attack.
I know he probably sets up not to get beat and says let them have the ball in front of us.
But really, these players need to look at themselves in the last 3 games.

Do you really think Jose says don’t go forward, don’t attack?????

What about the start of the season, bar Everton, when we scored loads?
Do you think he said “Enough of that sheite"?

I’m just not sure.

I’m no massive Jose fan but just not sure all this stuff that gets banded about is always right

I don’t think we’ll be doing much in January.

A big, decent signing could lift the team!
However, that was supposed to be Bale

It’s a shame in a way because he has brought something we have been missing defensively. But that now seems to be at the expense of things we were actually quite good at.
Got to balance

We are conditioned to surrender possession and counter attack. Nonsense tactics at anything other than a couple goal lead or when the other team is so superior that trying to out football then is silly.

Getting what we deserve at the moment. I can excuse Liverpool just about but today and palace were both a disgrace. No intent to win the game on display

Of course it’s Jose. The players are shackled to their positions. If any defender or defensive midfielder starts getting adventurous, he reigns them in. It’s that fear of being out of position that’s stopping any free flowing football from taking place. To play on the front foot you need bravery on the ball and the confidence of a manager that wants to see you express yourself. If a player has a forward pass that’s on but a bit risky, if he’s fearing the wrath of his manager, will always go backwards or sideways. That’s what I think is happening. The Ndombele’s and Eriksen’s of this world should lose possession occasionally as a consequence of bravery. Jose has put the fear of god into his creative players and it’s clear to see on the pitch.

That said if aurier wants to play like a caaaaant then it doesn’t matter what the game plan is.

The only change in Jan should see Jose leaving our club.

Things will not get better under his stewardship. We've ridden our luck all season. It won't last forever.

We are extremely lucky to have clinical strikers like Son and Kane who have been saving Jose's bacon all season. But on days like today, when they are off form, the result matches the lacklustre performance.

To the OP, imo it's a mixture. Jose has no control over players like aurier having a brainfart like today, or Sissokos poor defending for the own goal.

However what you mention is conceding possession. I fully believe that is Jose's fault, as it is one of his footballing philosophies that the team with more possession is more likely to make a mistake and then his team must capitalise on that mistake. In the same way of city fans weren't happy with their teams excessive passing at times they would blame guardiola as it is one of his footballing philosophies.

Jose is all to blame frankly.

What on earth do people expect us to do in January?

All we heard through September was “best transfer window ever” “Jose has his own players now”

No excuses for this awful negative backwards football.

Jose picks these players. Literally every fan in the PL can tell you that Sissoko isn’t great on the ball and really struggles with possession based football.

Well we don't play a possession based game under Mourinho. You're right about Sissoko he isn't great on the ball, the fault today was an off the ball issue, tbh I think with Sissoko he struggles with football as a whole rather than one aspect of it.
