Jack Grealish

Have a bit of a man crush on this guy, hoped we’d go for him in the summer.

He made a pass yesterday that we’d all be gushing over had it been KDB or Messi. https://www.instagram.com/p/CJT3xIisP0R/?igshid=11dn17o64wn69

Between him and Bruno you’d be creating 10 chances a game.

Nah I think Grealish will stick around at Villa now.

Signing a new contract essentially put Grealish leaving Villa in the near future to bed unless there's a club willing to break the British transfer record for him.

He won’t be going anywhere
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He will if he wants to.

He'll end up at city more than likely, sadly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do you think city? I’m not sure if that at all,

I think he’s top drawer. Can’t believe he’s not being chased by Europe’s elite. Would love him at United but can’t see a team with him and Bruno both in it. Have a horrible feeling he’ll go City.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I read he doesn’t want to play for pep for fear of being too tactical, could be rubbish of course.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can kind of see that to be fair.

I do get why we prioritised Sancho, though. I think Rashford can do well on the right, but his best football for us has come on the left. Grealish isn’t a player that addresses that problem, and if he’s going straight into the first team we’d still have problems with depth in attacking midfield.

And Villa are well set up to get the very best out of him. So he may not have had the same impact he’s having at Villa.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep; and we’d lose some of Rashford’s productivity.

Funnily enough, add Grealish and shift Rashford to the right, and I’d expect to see us struggling to finish the chances Bruno and Grealish would create.

With the four-man, pretty siloed attack that Ole likes to use, a large part of the challenge is finding the balance between creativity and finishing.

It’d be interesting to see. You’d have potentially a good balance between finishing and creativity with a front four of Grealish, Martial, Bruno and Rashford. On paper at least.

Though you have to look at how much Grealish and Bruno demand the ball. His role at Villa may not necessarily translate to playing for United. Especially when you factor in how opponents set up differently against both teams, and the off the ball work the other Villa players do compared with our forwards.

He's world class imo. Been the best player in the league this season

We still struggle to finish chances as it is but we also struggle to create high quality chances as well. At least if we had Grealish we'd have another strong creative presence in the team because aside from Bruno we're still short of creativity in attack.

The next forward we bring in needs to be more of a creator for that reason.

With Grealish left and Rashford right, I expect we'd see Bruno playing even higher up than he already is.

We already look like a 4-4-2 out of possession (with lazy wingers, which is a large part of the problem with our defending, but that's another discussion), and I wonder if we'd look even more like one in possession with Grealish in.

Grealish and Bruno can score as well as create.

You just need a quality number 9 to be there to hold up the ball and finish things off. If only Cavani were 5 years younger.
