Meslier tonight

He had little to do but I thought what he did do he did very poorly.

He flapped at a couple when he should have either punched or caught.

He could have dealt with the throw in better and on another occasion he played the ball directly to a West Brom player, yes he did make amends for that by a good save but the situation was so unnecessary and should have led to a goal

Bielsa noticed the mistakes and wasn't pleased.

Worst of all he looked upset and seemed to be looking for others to blame.

Yes he is only 20, you forget that because he has made some great saves and there have been standout performances previously.

Tonight was not a great night for the lad, I think someone needs to sit down with him and go through what went wrong and talk to him about how admitting responsibility can add to his game.

Tonight for the first time he looked like a 20 year old rookie keeper.

I don't buy this flapping at crosses thing. Firstly, thought he commanded his area very strongly from open play crosses, came out and caught a few very authoritatively. But secondly, he started coming off his line for setpieces more in the Burnley game than he had been before. We have kept two clean sheets with no set piece goals conceded (bar a debatable disallowed goal against Burnley).

I'd much rather he come out and flap at a corner but get it away from their players than stand on his line and watch them head the ball into the goal.

Had Kiko played like Meslier did tonight, they'd be pitchforks all over the place

If casilla hadent have done what he did and then went on to have 6 clean sheets in this league before the new year people wouldn't even question him

i think meslier did get a little phased in the game for a short period where he seemed to get some heat from a teammate after that throw in. he's only 20 and he picked the right game to be a bit sloppy.
thought alioski was very good today.

Acquitted himself very well this season to the Prem. Had a couple of instances of poor distribution that could have cost a goal and could be punished severely by a team like Spurs on Saturday.

Great to see hi come out for crosses and command his goal area. Been years since a Leeds keeper has done that effectively. Deserves the shirt and the chance to get even better.

Support the Lad!

Merci!!!

Yeah!! Put willies up me yesterday.

Brilliant all season.. I’ve said a million times our keepers play risky, like the team does.. this is why Kiko fits.

What he did yesterday he does most games. Difference is there was one glaring shocker (good save to rectify it to be fair) and he’s normally kept busy enough for the saves he makes to get more attention - which obviously wasn’t the case yesterday.

He’s done well for us but he’s learning on the job. It’s good to see him coming for crosses. Even if he hasn’t mastered the art yet, it’s denying the free headers that have plagued us all season.

Distribution errors and mistakes on crosses will be a price we have to pay for the way we play. Not easy being a keeper in this team. For his age experience he’s doing well.

He was very vulnerable tonight, lucky West Brom don't have great strikers...some of his passes were suicidal. He needs a good slap on the wrist from MB.Luckily we were ruthless yesterday, Raphina is something else. Jose, here we come.

Maybe have a read of this . The theory is that Bielsa is behind a tactical change.....
