I've decided to create a 'new stat'. This is essentially a rating out of ten of a player's goal (ie how good it is out of ten), divided by the number of goals he scores.
Let me give you an example to explain how it works:
Person A scores three goals in a career:
First Goal) He scores a tap in from five yards- therefore rating out of ten is 2
Second Goal) He beats three defenders and score a goal from outside the box- therefore rating out of ten is 9
Third Goal) He beats the offside trap and slides it past the keeper-therefore rating out of ten is 6
Overall score on this 'new stat' (lets just call it WIFTG6) is (9+6+2)/3
=5.66
Therefore his score is 5.66
Now, from a scale of 1 being Javier Hernandez (no offence, its just that all his goals are tap ins), to 10 being John Jensen. Rate the following players (plus any others whom you may feel may have an interesting score):
i) Robin van Persie
ii) Wayne Rooney
iii) Carlos Vela
iv)Thierry henry
v) Steven Gerrard
vi) Nani
vii) Frank Lampard
viii) Leo Messi
ix) Cristiano Ronaldo
x) Titus Bramble

Agree with Capello. But then you have to work out how important the goal is. Torres v Swansea is more important as it was the opener than his goal v Man Utd, classy as it was, because it did not affect, who won the game.
