New deal offered to Timothy Fosu-Mensah

https://twitter.com/skysportsnews/status/1344329237554212865?s=21

Just feel we haven’t learned from previous mistakes.

We seem afraid to lose players on a free and then we end up not wanting them but no other club is willing to match their wage. We’ve made this mistake with Jones and Rojo etc.

TFM is not a bad player but he’s clearly not in the managers plans and isn’t even 1st back up in any position. Just seems a jack of all trades master or none type of player.

If we saw some kind of future for him I’m not sure why we didn’t try another loan deal for him.

In reality no one is going to pay a big fee for a player that doesn’t play.

Just feel he’s another who we’ll just have on the books not playing and stealing a handsome wage.

Perplexed by this contract offer as well. Just let him go. Ed and the management need to be more ruthless in getting deadwood out the door.

Rojo, Lingard and Romero should also be let go and not have contracts renewed

Doubt Rojo or Romero will get a new deal but can see us being foolish to give one to Lingard in the hope we get a decent fee and then end up stuck with him.

Sorry forgot to include the article which I now have added.

It says Marseille or Hertha are willing to pay a few in January to take him.

Why not go for this and try negotiate a 1st option or buy back clause just in case he does turn into a player.

Don't see an issue in this.

I do like TFMs energy when he plays and I think he can offer something as a backup.

He looked poor against Rb Leipzig but he's barely played and we were crap that day.

Worst case scenario we sell him for a small fee. Or send him out on loan and hope his value increases.

It's a small gamble that may pay itself off later.

Not everything the club does needs to be criticised by armchair fans.

This makes no sense. Especially when Dalit will be returning at the end of the season - and an improved player at that too who can challenge AWB.

As stated in the article, the club need to know when to let go (Jones, Rojo etc)

But he’s not even 4th choice in any position and clearly not in the managers plan.

The longer he is at United picking up dust the more his value plummets.

I do think he could go on to have a good career and it’s probably in everyone’s interest that he moves on.

Odd one. Escliation of commitment.

It’s another pointless contract extension, in a long line of pointless contract extensions, under our lord and saviour, Ed Woodward.

Don sums it up, he doesn’t understand contract assets and contract liabilities.

It’s amazing how injury prone our defenders have been down the years - both graduates & signings:

TFM
Tuanzebe
Shaw
Rojo
Bailly
Jones
Laird
Smalling (though he has overcome them largely in his latter years)
Dalot

I like Tim but hit there doesn’t seem to be a place for him at United and he needs to go and play regularly somewhere and kick start his career. If he can stay fit and nail down a position, he’ll be a good player for someone.

It’s not so long ago that he was starting games for his country.

It benefits nothing only his pockets for him to stay at United picking up a wage for the odd appearance every week.

If he’s happy with that fair enough but the club shouldn’t be facilitating it.

Lingard deal also extended by a year.
