Completed his medical and is off on loan to Schalke apparently. I believe he still has a year left on his contract? So hopefully there is an option to make this permanent.
Arteta had this to say on our transfer activity in January:
"We have had some conversations around a few players and whether we can find some loans because the numbers we have in the squad at the moment are really big. But again, we cannot confirm anything at the moment.
There are a lot of players that are going to go on loan.
'They are going to leave. And thatβs the priority at the moment because we cannot sustain the numbers that we have in certain positions. We are looking to do that.
'And then we will see if we have the right opportunities in the positions that we need some more help. We are working with the club to try to address them.'
The daily Mail rumours that the following players are priorities for the boot:
Sead Kolasinac
Shkodran Mustafi
Calum Chambers
William Saliba
Sokratis Papastathopoulos
Mesut Ozil
Sounds like he wanted a big exodus in the summer but as we all know this didn't happen. Hopefully we can seriously clear some deadwood now. Hasn't it felt like some of these players have been clinging onto us forever?
Kolasinac gone and more to follow.

Chambers going would surely put to bed any rumours of Bellerin being sold?
There is no Xhaka on this list π
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I noticed in the Brighton game that, on Brighton's corners, Bellerin was trying to mark a player who was about 18 inches taller than him? How about getting some common sense in this club and/or some taller players in the line-up?
btw: Also don't mean to ruffle feathers, but Auba was MIA for most of this game. Maybe he should be on the trading block?

31 years old and on massive wages, he won't be a viable option to sell
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You might be correct. But, at the right price, you will always find a buyer.

Apparently Sokratis doesn't want to leave but Mustafi is eager to go.

They will both leave this window me think.

Not true. Wages are a major factor in many transfers
It's the reason Ozil is sitting in the reserves on massive money

There will always be takers for Aubameyang. He won the golden boot season before last and came very close to winning it last season.
Its incredulous that there are some gooners who still want to sell him. Auba's form this season has been inconsistent. But a lot of that is down to the manager. The entire has been poor in build up play. So its not unexpected the finisher won't get chances. As for the Brighton game, he had just returned from injury and still had 2 clear chances in the second half. Both of which he normally takes as shown by his goal scoring record.

Yeah Auba almost certainly would have clubs after him if we were willing to sell for a low price

Auba will soon be out of his slump, and back among the most prolific in the league. He has suffered from the very defensive set up and it is hard to just switch it back on.

Don't want to beat this to death, but read my statement please. The "RIGHT PRICE" can include Arsenal picking up a large amount, if not 100%, of Ozil's pay-check! Let's just get rid of him! His presence at Arsenal FC can no longer do any good.
Happy New Year!

Contracts don't work like that. I can't be sure but I suspect Ozil's contract is based on appearances. That means Arsenal actually save money by not playing him. Whereas if they were to terminate his contract, Arsenal would have to pay out all bonuses including loyalty bonuses.
It seems that Arsenal have been willing to let Ozil go for free for at least a season. That would mean the buying club paying his loyalty bonus (which we owe) as a signing on bonus. But obviously it seems no one is willing to do that even if Ozil wanted to go.
