Always remember when Ron Harris said the Doc's instructions to him before a game was " get yer late tackle in early"
Another great of the game, rest easy sir!

Tommy Docherty, Bill Shankly, Alex Ferguson. All astute, acerbic at times, Scottish managers at the highest level nationally. Their ability to produce dynasties within football was incredible. Their intelligence when dealing with moronic comments in press interviews was admirable.
They were the best managers I can remember apart from Sir Matt and credit due to Wenger as well. Obviously there are and have been mu anagers working in the lower leagues who have achieved great things without the budgets of the "fortunate elite".
But no matter what a manager does it so often comes down to that little bit of luck that can make or break them. And then how they, their directors/owners and the fans respond.
Hard business for them but at the end of the day they can be well paid for it. Offer me 3 million a year and I would be a bit miffed if you sacked me after 6 months. I could live on that, get a job as a controversial tv pundit and continue to milk it.
