Mourinho on Bergwijn

The Portuguese told Football.London: “Yeah, we need him to score goals. Of course we know he has the ability to do that. If you go back one year, his first match and he scored an amazing goal. We know that he has the ability to do that.

“He’s accumulating also physical problems. I don’t know if you could see but even in the last 10 minutes he was touching his groin, he was touching his adductor.

“He’s having problems that are stopping him now and again from training properly and at high intensity so he’s suffering a little bit. But of course he gives very good things to the team. I believe the goals will arrive if his condition improves."

—————————————————————————————————

It seems he’s playing through injury currently and might explain a lot, hopefully whatever the issue is he will soon get over it and start putting the ball in the back of the net.

He can finish, he has a really good a scoring record as a wide player, currently 1 in 3 for just league games and 1 in 4 with all competitions included, but just not showing that ability with us yet.

Brother

The only thing bothering me is what we're going to do about a replacement. With the squad full already it'd have to be a homegrown player, and England's midfield is rubbish aside from Grealish.

If we sold Lamela as well we could sign Sabitzer. There are probably other home grown players that while not English qualify as homegrown. Zaha is a good option even at 28 but I doubt Levy will pay what Palace demand for a player of his age.

Good shout to be fair, we just need Poch to go on a bit of a Spurs spending spree. Dele, Lamela, Rose, Sissoko.. I doubt they'd want Lucas back but I reckon we'd listen to offers.

Zaha doesn't fit the profile and I'm not convinced he's what we need anyway. I've seen the Sabitzer rumours, he definitely looks a decent player, versatile too.

Not been impressed by Phillips when I've watched him. Does McGinn count as homegrown?

According to a pop up I’ve just had from The Athletic Kane & Son have scored 22 of our 29 PL goals, Bergwijn hasn’t scored for 27 games.

He defends great though. Sorry, but that’s so p** poor for a our wide forward. For all the stick Bale has been getting, he’s still scored 2 more than that and barely played.

Says here his asking price was £40m which was a hell of alot for a championship player at that point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep. Would have been worth it but we never would have known if he'd be the player he is now for us.

Was always saying would have been a good signing but absurd money. Levy already facked it with an opening insulting bid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is true. Likewise you could say Berahino could have done well for us, despite looking like we dodged a bullet when our offer wasn't met.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thing is with Grealish he loves Villa and plays his heart out for them every week because he is one of their own. He seems like a playboy off the pitch too. Him and Dele are good mates as well. If he moved down to London there is no gaurantee he would perform for us the way he does for Villa because as soon as he sees the bright lights he could lose some of his hunger.

He is also captain of villa. That extra responsibility is something I have read he has dreamed about when he was a kid. That probably gives him an extra 10% motivation. Something he would not have at Spurs.

Some of that is actually pretty inciteful Sandy. Must be all those made up years of wisdom at the ripe old age of '72'.
